The 2006 LSU team was not some all-time great team, but it was loaded with talent, beat some good teams, and lost 2 games to very good teams they easily could have won

Auburn we barely lost and had like 5 dogshit calls go against us. Played super conservative on offense despite not being to run the ball well at all

Florida we turned the ball over 5 times, including multiple unforced errors. We fumbled a snap, dropped a kickoff that got recovered for a TD, and Bowe had at least one 20 yard pass completion slip out of his hands that turned a wide open catch into an interception. Florida was a great team, but it was comedy of unforced errors that day

Mainly because we got fricked on a ton of calls at Auburn. Just kind of gave everyone a pissed off vibe the rest of the season. Next would be that we had a really loaded roster comprised of a bunch of Louisiana guys and top shelf players. It was a THIS close to the next step season. Which of course was the natty.

People keep talking about bad game planning by Miles but there was no chance of winning that game. Every viable drive was torpedoed by bad calls and blatant cheating. Tommy Tuberville at his best

We should be talking about the 2005 team. Played a whole season with no bye week, they were gassed by the time they made it to the sec championship game.

It was one of those games that you felt I. The sec cg away from the swamp things could be different.

The problem is that Auburn officiating game prevented us from finding out.

The worst part was being all dressed up to go to the rose bowl and then USC loses bumping us out from having that once in a lifetime experience

Why do you constantly start big “hot take” threads to get people worked up? If you’re getting paid by tigerdroppings to stir stuff up, cool. But your schtick has gotten exhausting.

Some people gotta find a way to feel smarter than everyone.

“Acktchually we were that good in 2006”

It was a 2 loss team. 1 was somewhat controversial. 1 was a game we felt we could have played better and it was on the road with the eventual NC.

A real LSU fan would have liked another crack at Florida and see it as a bit of a waste
Of a ton of talent.

Barely squeaked out a win in OT at home against the Coach O led 3-8 Rebs. I am pro 2006 team and it had a lot of memorable moments but this has to be mentioned.

We finished exactly where we deserved at #3. Florida was clearly better than us, especially at the end of the year. They beat us 23-10 head to head, and their defense was definitely better than ours. They shut down Darren McFadden and Arkansas, which is something LSU couldn’t do the week before even though we squeaked out a win. Their win over Ohio State was way more impressive than our win over an average Notre Dame team.

Florida's 2006 is greatly overrated because of how they absolutely stomped Ohio State. I'm glad they didn't give Michigan the rematch, and Florida deserved the spot. But they were not a dominant team by any stretch.

1-possesion games against Tennessee, Vandy, USC, FSU, and UGA.

Their Special Teams literally won them a NC that year.

They needed blocked punts vs Vandy, blocked FGs vs USC, and a muffed punt TD and a PR TD vs Arkansas to win those games.

If you remember, LSU fumbled a kickoff and muffed a punt in our game, too.

It's almost like special teams are an important part of football or something.

Arkansas played LSU and Florida back to back at the end of the year. They should have beaten Florida and just blew it. I can’t say that about LSU.

This proves the OP's point. So many people on here do not truly understand football. They watch through a fog of whiskey and think they know what they are talking about.

The talent was for real, Les had em running bunch eye for 3-1/2 quarters against Auburn with 4 NFL wide receivers on the roster and we turned the ball over 4 times at Florida - once at the goal line - what might have been.

grand theft auburn was the worst officiated game i have ever seen at any level. 8 bad calls no calls and 4 were drive killers. they cheated blatantly when the replay official cannot get it right.

The most egregious part about the PI no call was that it was actually called at first and then waived off with zero explanation other than “there is no foul on the play.”

Why in the frick are you trying so hard to run down the 2006 football team what fricking gives?

what do you gain out of this, It’s a complete argument and statement that shouldn’t be happening on an LSU board.

What’s the point Of the statement

The saddest part about that season, to me, is that it was 16 damn years ago.

We also fumbled going in at the 1-yard line and got a safety on the opening kickoff of the second half.

Florida was probably slightly better than us in 2006, but we certainly helped them to the finish line big time in that game.

ETA: You’ve never heard any LSU fans talk about the 2006 team? Really? Many consider it to be better than both the 2003 and 2007 teams, probably 2011 too considering the quarterback discrepancy.
