I don't know that anyone loves Jefferson.

I am pretty sure that some posters love Lee. It's got to be emotion-based because it is not fact-based.

I'm also pretty sure that there is nothing Jefferson can do to get approval from some fans.

Seems to me Jefferson has gotten as much, if not more, benefit of the doubt than any QB in LSU history.

I dont recall JJ ever having a head-turning great game to counterbalance his poor games.

JL' auburn and Troy games were pretty cool though

Seems like he needs to come off the bench to be successful.

The approach may be ok for the next 3 winnable home games, but I have lost faith that he can actually develop in the areas needed for him to beat Florida and Bama.

We need to have a balanced approach to compete for the SEC title.

What is right for the short term is not always right for the long term.

Let's hope JJ does well, as that would be great.

How wrong can you be! JL hasn't had significant playing time since he was a freshman. He MIGHT be better.

JJ sucks at throwing the ball all he has to do to gain favor with the fans is hit receivers with the ball somewhere other than the ankles, way over their head or behind them AND occasionally get them the ball when they are wide open waving their arms down field.

You and all the other blind fans that think JJ is good misunderstand those that want to see JL get a shot. We want JL to get a shot but that doesn't mean we believe he is great or even good... just that JJ got his shot and so should JL.

I don't blame you for saying "ugghhh." If the facts did not support my argument, I would probably say "ugghhh" too.

uggghhhh is the correct answer

There were 7 deep passes (longer than 10 yards in the air) that were called in the UNC game. He completed only the one 51 yard TD. Two of the other passes were commented on as "almost picked off." The 4th pass was picked off. And the 5th was an intentional grounding. The 6th & 7th attempts, JJ got happy feet, and ran for a yard or so.

So a 70% completion rate is purely based on passes of 8 yards or less in the air, against a team that had no starting DBs, and less than half of its starting pass rush available. Nothing to be basing an opinion on. The difference in passing yards and return yards against Vandy should be all the proof one needs, in determining that UNC was weak.

The problem for fans is that we know Vandy. They are winless in two seasons in the SEC. His numbers were putrid, and we are afraid that his UNC numbers might actually have been worse, with them at full strength.

Where the sunshine pumpers argument falls apart is in the trends. his first year he finished under 50% passing, even though the offense was ranked in the middle of the pack. Last year, his numbers looked good (other than sack), but the team offense stunk. This year, his numbers stink, and the offensive numbers also stinking. And we are not into the meat of our schedule. Looking at just JJs BCS opponents

Arky 08 - needed to come from behind to win; lost
Ga Tech - no 2nd half production
Wash - 3 of 5 series in 2nd half (3 and out)
Vandy - 3 of 5 series in 2nd half (3 and out)
Miss St - Chad Jones
Ga - pick in the EZ, and phone request not to pass the ball
Fla - no 2nd half production = loss
Auburn - best game
Bama - incomplete game
Ole Miss - end of game debacle = loss
Arky 09 - Their kicker missed FG in OT
Penn St - failed 2 min offense = loss
UNC - no 2nd half production
Vandy - whole game was bad

So the basic fact is, JJ only plays to limit mistakes. However if LSU trails, JJ is more often than not going to produce a win

The problems last year were due to a horrible offensive line, no running game, and an incompetent OC. You can blame it all on JJ if you like, but it is obvious that you are oblivious.

All valid. None of those exist for the 123.5 yards passing per game production in 2010. I will gladly enjoy his changing that to be more in line with the awesome receiver crew he has, which should be receiving 250+ yards per game, which is twice the production shown in the first two games thus far.

No doubt the offense has struggled with Jefferson at quarterback. It's a combination of factors that go into it, and I don't think our coaches have helped matters thus far.

To be fair, JJ played well at Bama before he got hurt. The drive that ended in Peterson's touchdown catch was beautiful. We were very very ready to play for that game.

FWIW, I do not put that game on Lee's shoulders. When JJ was in, the offense produced 1 touchdown. With JL in, the offense produced 1 touchdown as well. We were one 3rd down conversion from putting ourselves in great position to win that game (Ridley stuffed by McClain).

I think 2 experienced quarterbacks battling each other for playing time is a good thing. JJ is the clear starter for now, and it sounds like this battle won't divide the team. I say give Lee a meaningful series here and there, and we'll see what he can do.

The coaches owe it to the players to not put the QB position above the others... they deserve the best chance to produce and win games. We are 2-0 for now, so we should all relax and see if improvements can be made

I have a 12 year old who throws for more than 150 yards a game, maybe he can start this weekend.

Most people must have a short memory. Think back to when lee was starting. Game after game, Lee was playing poor and the fans were frustrated. the Boo birds finally came out and Miles stuck with Lee until he was injured. EVERYONE wanted JJ and we finally got what we THOUGHT we wanted.

For Miles to pull JJ in favor of Lee at this point would not sit well with JJ or some others. JJ had to sit through many picks and poor play, and then only did he see he field by way of injury.

Although I want to see JL, I can understand why Miles is sticking with JJ, I'm sure he feels he owes it to him.
