to start JJ over Lee this week.

Our defense and special teams alone can win games for us. With putting so much emphasis on being a running team and wearing down defenses in the fourth quarter, we don't need a QB who will be a gunslinger to throw the ball all over the field and take away from the running game. We need someone who will not turnover the ball and can complete short/conservative passes for a few first downs on 2nd/3rd and short.

Don't get me wrong, if JJ is 3 and out several of the first few possessions, I would want to give Lee a shot, but I just don't see why JJ shouldn't get an oppourtunity to redeem himself for last week's performance.

No matter who gets the nod, I sure hope the LSU fans don't boo this team. If we want to be considered the best fans in America, we need to start acting like it.

I like your thinking, except JJ seems to have trouble with accuracy/touch on those short to medium passes.

But your right in that this team doesn't necessarily need a QB who can put the team on his shoulders.

I ahven't seen too many people post that JL should get the start, but I think the vast majority of us believe he should see game action so that he's ready to play.

He won't get any better holding a clipboard, and at some point this season we will need him.

Regardless of who plays, I hope he kicks arse when he's in.

JJ's game last Saturday was out of character for him. It would be ludicrous to believe that he would repeat such a performance again.

This is more of a Miles' decision of who he wants to play and why, then a talk on which QB has better skills, etc.

I guess it is borderline?

You are an idiot if you think most of JJ's past performances were as bad as last week.

The mere thought that we are a running team when we have Randle, Tolliver, and Shep as receivers boggles the mind. One crappy QB counters three future NFL receivers...

To be fair, JJ hasn't been that conservative, game managing qb so far this year

So we should forget about offense?

Cf. LSU's 2009 offense, which consisted of a QB who couldn't throw and no running game as a result.

I agree. JJ isn't good at this. Ask Russell Shepard.

This is the best anti-Lee argument. But it is silly when JJ is throwing silly picks himself. Including the drive-killing one in the third quarter against Vandy when he massively underthrew a wide open Toliver in the end zone and let the guy Toliver burned get an INT.

So all of the 3 and outs against Vandy and UNC didn't convince but a couple against Staht finally will.

It's not just last week. He's played solidly once since 2008. Auburn 2009. He is the reason we sucked on offense in 2009 and the reason we suck right now on offense despite having an embarrassment of riches at the skill positions and an improved offensive line. If it were just one bad game, fine. But he's never really had a good game. And his comments in the media this week sounded pouty.

At least let Lee have a chance. The offense talent SCREAMs for a gunslinger. Picks and all. With Lee, we can score on anyone and put up 35, 40 points. With JJ--eh. Maybe a couple of scores if Shepard breaks free.

The offense has been stagnant for the past 15 games and JJ is the biggest reason why.

If you believe the NC game was like last Saturday's game then you better lay off the crack!

If that was a good SEC defense that made him play like that, id agree.

The guy threw a ball that would have bounced at least 5 feet in front of a 6'5" receiver had it not been picked off.

I dont recall JJ ever having a head-turning great game to counterbalance his poor games.

As a result, i believe his ceiling is pretty low, and the North Carolina game is about as good as it gets with him, which should be enough to win a lot of games with our defense.... you just never know when he might come out and lay an egg like at Vandy.

Actually JJ threw for almost 2200 yards with a completion rate of 61.5% and 17 touchdowns with just 7 interceptions last season. JJ can certainly throw all right. The problems last year were due to a horrible offensive line, no running game, and an incompetent OC. You can blame it all on JJ if you like, but it is obvious that you are oblivious.

Look at it this way... they will be REALLY good at run blocking when they get to the NFL.
