Because when Wade was coaching he had Waters and Smart breaking down those zones and causing havoc

We had some big problems with the zone even with Wade. Zone basically works really well when the other team can't hit 3s and doesn't have the buys willing to penetrate. Well, we have 3 guys who penetrate great, but our shots just weren't falling in the 2nd half when we did get in there (plus Maryland's big guys were playing great D).

LSU offense is 30th percentile this season against a zone why are people acting like wade had the it figured out but Benford doesn’t? The team has been poor all year against a zone.

. Go back and look at the last 10 games dumbass. LSU was flat out on a roll before that suspension.

I believe Tom Izzo will do just that. Florida, Yale and Maryland all proved LSU can't crack a standard zone defense.

If I remember correctly, Indiana dropped a 1-3-1 zone on us during the final 4 in the ‘80s the we totally couldn’t deal with and it turned that game around. Am I remembering this correctly?

They win DESPITE their struggles against the zone
you can't say that with any certainty because no teams play zone the entire game against lsu. it could very well be that lsu would win those games too. that's what everyone has been trying to point out to you

They do not force the other team out of it.
prove it

Sometimes, you win in spite of something you do poorly
people have been giving plenty of reasons why teams don't do it more against lsu. the proof is in the pudding. people would damn sure be doing it all game if they KNEW they would win. they aren't. where there's smoke, there's fire

How does this prove you're right?

LSU finds ways to pull it out
as i said

You are arguing with me as if from a perspective that I am somehow saying LSU isn't a good team
no, i'm saying that you aren't listening to all the people in this thread who are giving you plenty of answers to your question

quote:

no one has been able to stop LSU with all year, and when we fall behind by 15 or more, we'll switch it up, and see what happens".
there's a reason why EVERY coach is doing this and NOT playing zone. these coaches study hundreds of hours of games. i'm guessing they know more than random keyboard jockeys

quote:

Man to man is the wrong poison against LSU
again, you can't say that with any certainty because no one has tried zone all game. no one has even tried zone MOST of the game. your point is pure speculation as everyone has been pointing out to you

Maryland got to this point in the season by playing man to man defense so their coaching staff decided to live and die by it at the end.
but you're acting like these coaches haven't seen the zone slow lsu down. they have and they STILL DON'T run it much. there's just no discussion here. even great coaches are not running very much zone against lsu. there has to be a GOOD reason why that is

That's why our leads keep evaporating
the leads are evaporating for multiple reasons, of which offense is only one reason.

Shouldn't they have figured it out by now?
again, they figure it out every time. once they start to break it down, coaches get out of it with the quickness. slowing lsu down for a few possessions does not mean lsu can't "figure out" zone defense
