Rhymes is really really slow and I like him at the 4th hole as an RBI machine.

I always believe that having your best OBP guy hitting in front of your best Power hitter makes for the best lineup. JMO.
Can't argue with the current results, though

what does 2009 lineup have to do with this team? if you are referring to lineup changes perhaps they were needed and perhaps a change worked?
that team was stackkked.. and obviously paul made the right decisions.. just as he is with batting these 2 guys where they are.
again why change the 3 and 4 hole hitters when they are perfectly on fire as they are?

Why don't we just get rid of tigerdroppings since we can't discuss anything?
Eta: There's not much on that list from when Mainieri took time off and got lazy in 2010 and 11.

Exactly. I can perfectly understand not wanting to change things because of the success we are having, but I don't think switching them in the lineup would kill us.

The thought is that you probably aren't going to get anything extra out of Rhymes protecting him with Katz. And, you very well might get less out of Katz if he's not protected by Rhymes.

There is nothing wrong with discussing mistakes that the coach makes but if he sneezes wrong somebody on here is crying for him to be fired!!! freak guys just come down a little....i get frustrated with him also but you cant start a thread everytime he cuts his toenails wrong... Thats all i am saying... You guys enjoy your days!!!!

I think because rhymes is by far our most clutch hitter
He was hitting some absurd shite like .615 with RISP going into last week.
Let Katz double, then rhymes drive him in, I guess

Probably easier for Rhymes to drive Katz in from 2nd than Katz to drive Rhymes in from 1st.
If we had a real #4 hitter the perfect situation would be Rhymes, Katz, imaginary hitter...imo.

You're telling everyone on here to calm down?
Everyone on here is having a rational conversation about a question the original poster asked. There hasn't been a word about Fire Mainieri that was serious.
The only one that is pissy in here is you
And to answer the poster.. I think Katz or Rhymes would work in either spot. If it isn't broke don't fix it in my opinion. They are hitting and playing good ball.

It refutes the dumb argument, " we are winning, don't change anything.". In 2009 lsu was #2 in the country when maineri made huge changes to the infield involving moving a 2 nd rd draft pick off of ss and inserting two true freshmen into the lineup. The point is, maineri does not live by the, " but we are winning" crap, if adjustments can make our team better, he'll do it.
As for safetyman, why can't we discuss baseball. Nobody in this thread has asked for maineri to be fired. We are just discussing the pros and cons of our batting lineup.

Ideal guy would be someone like Quinn Stewart, who only hit HRs to bat behind those guys
