Why does LSU seem to ruin qbs?

Sure its been mentioned hundreds of times but. Shepard was the top qb recruit out of Texas but becomes a wide receiver. Mett beats out 2 guys for Georgia's starter including Aaron Murray and was the top Junior College qb. So what's the problem?

Don't stop at qb. Receivers, tight ends also get worse at LSU.

shep was never going to be a qb, aaron murry has had an average year, and mettenberger has yet to play a full season. you should probably wait until the end of the season before saying "LSU ruins qbs".

It seems to me that the QB position is unimportant in the offensive scheme. Its like a burden or necessary evil to coach the most important position on a football team

Have you been watching the new JUCO kid at Ole Miss? What I see is a coach who lets him pass, receivers who aren't surprised that he is passing (and therefore catch). What I don't see is something similar with Mett, altho we did see it some versus Washington. And what we saw that day was good. Then the coaching focus seemed to change back to one-dimensionality and Mett and receivers got out of sync. It's not Mett, it's coaching IMO.
Even so, tonight...

Why some only post negative posts? Shep probably couldn't run for a yard in practice as a QB, that is why.

Don't say LSU. Say Miles.

In defense, who have we ruined? I'd call it lack of development. We haven't had the talent come in. Don't base high school ranking (Shep) and preseason hype at Georgia as your talent evaluation. Our talent has been average at best at QB. In addition, our lines haven't performed their best an our wr have underperformed. We were spoiled with JR throwing to Bowe and Doucet. Since then we haven't been so blessed.

Shep never had skills to be an SEC level QB, Jefferson and Lee were mid level SEC QB's who were just judged overly harshly by a largely football illiterate fanbase. Mett was highly overrated by LSU fans. Georgia fans knew better and warned us.

That's like good news/bad news. Good news, the NFL won't want him early and he can stay at LSU. The bad news, the NFL won't want him early and he can stay at LSU and prevent any of the QBs behind him from being developed at all.

He wasn't really the top QB recruit. If he was a legit QB at the college level, he would have gone to Texas.

He was kicked off the team in the spring so there is no way to say he beat out Murray.

. This x 1,000. The Miles philosophy does not allow the QB to be a key playmaker.
