Miles wanted the 5th year senior who stuck it out to get the opportunity he deserves instead of the kid who stayed in trouble since the day he first signed. Ryan was clearly more gifted but if he was as great as advertised he would have been recruited by other big programs instead of Jax St.

You’re a jerkoff dude. Every time they gave Mett a chance to throw he was successful.
No, he developed into a successful QB... which was the overall point of this thread.

I'm not attacking Mett at all. But his first few games here, he stood there WAITING for WRs to get wide open, instead of trusting them and the play to make it happen.

There's this guy who did that this year for us. I think his number was 9.

He'd take the snap (against cupcakes, no less), and just stand there like he was counting the fans in the endzone.

You wanted him to trust that the Studrawa offense would get receivers open? With 2 WRs on the field most plays.

Watch the 2012 Bama game. He threw them open.

I said the early games, pretty sure Bama was late season. It took him awhile to get into form, and that was after sitting the season before to get acclimated.

Jeez, what's with the hypersensitivity on this site recently?

I never saw any evidence that Flynn shouldn't be starting. That said, I'm damn glad we had Perrilloux as well because we probably don't get to the NC without his SECCG performance.

So you think RP would have done better than a National Championship?

Maybe?
Rohan, Nall, Booty, nor JR walked onto campus as an accomplished starting quarterback.
I remember, when Flynn and JR were Sophomores, JR was the starter, but when Flynn would play in the second half, the team would often be more efficient.
He didn't play as well as a Junior. I think he developed an attitude because he wasn't the starter. But when JR left he became more committed. I remember the talking heads, talking about LSU's deficits after JR went to the NFL, saying Flynn looked very good in spring practice so don't count LSU out".
Flynn was pretty efficient vs Miami.
He was also quite efficient vs Ohio St. Two very important games in LSU's history.

Flynn was far better than the average QB. He played in the NFL for year backing up Brett Favre.
He backed up Aaron Rodgers not Brett Favre, but you are right about him being a lil better than average, in his college career that is. Lol He certainly was in his last season at LSU in leading LSU to a NCAA Cship. People on here are saying he was average and terrible in his LSU career and that just isn't true, he played really well in his last season at LSU. He had LSU's offense scoring a lot even though it was a Miles offense, Flynn could use both his arm and legs to make plays. A poster in this thread said he cost them the Kentucky game, and that's a lie as he had LSU's offense scoring constantly on Kentucky going into 5 OT's.

It was LSU's defense that cost them that game because they were terrible and couldn't stop Kentucky's offense. Ironically, Bo Pelini was the DC that year for that defense, and they lost 2 games(Being the only NCAA champion to have an asterisk with 2 losses) they shouldn't have lost, losing to Arkansas also in 5 OT's because of terrible defense once again. That's why I've been hesitant about the Bo Pelini hire, but I guess we'll see this time around.
