Seems like I recall Perriloux getting caught underage in a casino or some crap like that. Suspended or punished.

Week before Bama that year.

Don't expose your ignorance. Flynn earned his play at LSU. He earned about five years in the NFL.
Now justify your praise of Perriloux.
P earned the "boot" at LSU.
He Played great at Jackson State. Nothing in the NFL.
If "P" had dedicated himself to football, no telling how good he would have been.
Unfortunately for him, he pissed it away.
He had his chances.

So you're thinking we should have started a different QB even though we won the national championship?

I don't wanna bash Flynn, but that isn't gonna stop me from making this stupid thread 13 years later and doing exactly that

Eh, he backed up Eli on and off for 2 seasons.
He got SOME NFL money, at least.

Perrilloux was more talented than Flynn but I think Les wanted someone more conservative (on the field AND off) to lead the team. Imo

Nobody likes to admit it, but Flynn was the weak link on that offense. He was very inefficient from cmp% to yards per attempt to TD-int ratio.
Only 3 years since then has a starting LSU QB had a worse QB rating (Lee 2008, Jefferson 2010, Jennings 2014).
Matt Flynn was LSU's version of Tennesse's Tee Martin.

Because Flynn was way better.

We won the NC that year. We beat Auburn off of his arm. Was he a great QB? No. But he was a leader of men, fantastic caretaker of the ball, and made the plays the team had to have we they needed it the most.

He must have been a great game manager. We set offensive records that season. He was outstanding in the two biggest games of his career. Miami and Ohio St.
Its amazing that some fans shite on the players who do it right and glorify the ones we could never depend on.

I don’t think pointing out facts and stats equate to us “shitting” on Flynn. He was a decent/solid QB who finished 5th or 6th in the SEC in almost every passing statistic.
He had a lot of average performances and did not play good football in our 2 losses in 2007. His highs (bowl games, Auburn 2007) were great, but there were definitely some lows mixed in there.

I've watched a few games from 2007, and forgot how mediocre Flynn was. Perrilloux was so dynamic with the option, and a better passer.
This is what happens when you have too much time on your hands.

Flynn was a winner, Perrilloux was a good player but he couldn't stay out of trouble!
Posted on 4/16/20 at 9:19 am to 1badboy
Flynn was just the more experienced QB and Miles sticks with his QB's that have paid their dues, that's all. It's obvious Perriloux was the more talented QB, kid could fire a pass that was real pretty spiraling towards a receiver, and he was just smooth in handling the football like with the old option BS that Miles and co. ran. But yeah, he couldn't stay out of trouble and that was that, sad, because he could have been a No. 1 pick if he had stayed out of trouble and led LSU to another title. Although with the type of offense that Miles ran he would have seriously underused and misused Perriloux, but Perriloux was still good enough to get by in that type of shite offense. Imagine Perriloux in Brady's or the Saints offense, unreal.
