brady was fired for political reasons, Collis Temple wanted him fired, sure Brady was not winning, but the real reason behind the firing was politics- same old story at LSU- I like TJ and think he can be a good coach for LSU but at the end of the day the political powers rule.
Brady dug his own grave

Also, how long has TJ officially been on the LSU job? You do realize these local recruits he's going after have been pursued by other coaches for literally YEARS. Again, it will take time for him to make inroads in this area. Hell, if he can recruit at Stanford, he will tear it up at LSU.

Along with a ton of other fans and boosters. TJ isn't going to undo the lackadasical fan support over night. However, the attendance was definitely improving by the middle/end of last year. You are sadly mistakened if you think Collis was the main culprit behind Brady's firing.

Not to mention he has a large recruiting network he built on the west coast. Dotson from Washington has already signed and he'll continue to recruit there and in the South.

A while ago on the radio, I think it was Songy, said he thinks TJ is just kinda waiting for the 2010 recruiting class and kinda giving up on the 2009 class, I think it's BS though

Dude, Trent Johnson will get any player out of the BR area because of Collis Temple, Jr. That dude is like the Black Jesus of BR basketball. He does so much inner-city sports work, the kids look up to him and if he has a relationship with LSU bball, they'll play at LSU. That's how John Brady for Glenn Davis, Tyrus Thomas, and Tasmin Mitchell.

Crowds are weak, our conference is not a strong basketball conference...kind of hard to recruit talent here.
LSU was 25th in the nation in total home attendance for basketball. The SEC was 2nd only to the Big 10 in average attendance, and 2nd only to the Big East (16 teams) in total attendance. ( LINK.)

Langston Galloway is the guy from Christian Life. It seems as if he has liked St. Joseph's in Philly for quite a while. Either his uncle or a close family friend is a part of the staff.
He's one of the top 100 recruits in the country, and he just committed to St. Joe's, so I think that's why the thread was started (along with Brian Williams going to OK State).
I won't be worried though until Trent misses out on the guys he really wanted to bring in like Derenbecker and Turner.

I didnt care as much for Brian Williams because he was a 6'5 SF/PF.

I like what I've seen from Trent Johnson so far. I think that it would be hard for all but a few coaches to move to another part of the country and immediately succeed in recruiting local talent. He does have fan support in recruiting now, but I think that in a couple of years, he'll be very capable of bringing in the best talent, from here and from elsewhere.

Too early to make a substantive judgement on Trent Johnson as a recruiter here, but I will admit I have my concerns.
My first impression of Trent is that he is a principaled man in an unprincipaled profession.
I perceive him at this point as a coach who wants to do things the right way, bringing in character kids.
There are schools with rich basketball traditions and passion where this can be done with success.
I'm not sure if LSU falls into that category, but I would love if Trent could pull it off because I want LSU to be an example of what is right and good in all of their athletic programs.

Tis true, but one must tread carefully with CT2. There are strings attached.
I think Trent is strong enough and smart enough to walk the line in regard to CT2.

Well, how about reading a better article than that Advocate crap? LSU wasn't going hard after the guys mentioned.

trent johnson has already signed aaron dotson out of seattle. he wrestled dotson away from scools in the pacific northwest which is not easy to do. dotson also chose LSU over louisville, where terrence williams, who went to the same high school as dotson played at. next class is key and i believe he'll have a good one.

Jaime Lloreda was a first team All SEC player who led the SEC in rebounding one season and was runner up another.
