All the more reason we can't afford turnovers

As evidenced by the bitch slapping LSU gave GT less than a year ago.

did you see the peach bowl last year?
I saw GT average over 4 yards a carry vs. LSU and I saw them forced to effectively abandon the run after getting behind by 20+ points at the start of the 2nd quarter. I also saw them run for over 200 yards vs. MSU earlier this year (over 400 last year) and 400 yards vs. Georgia last year.
I'm still waiting for some evidence that the option would be crushed in the SEC. Paul Johnson would lead the league in rushing within 2 years if he came to the SEC.

2008:
MSU-438
UGA-409
LSU-164
2009:
MSU-213
Paul Johnson at GT = 4 games vs. SEC teams for 306 yds/game. Clearly you guys are right, option stands no chance vs. SEC teams.

Because that is Georgia Tech's entire offense?

worked good for them in the Peach Bowl huh?

RS running Paul Johnson's offense would be difficult to stop in any conference

when we run it, it is usually for negative yardage.
Oh, you mean the way Georgia Tech ran it against LSU in Atlanta? That worked well for Georgia Tech didn't it?
Why can't LSU run the option successfully as Georgia Tech? Because LSU plays in the SEC and not the ACC. SEC defenses are bigger and faster.
What does Paul Johnson know that Nick Saban, Les Miles, Urban Meyer, Mark Richt don't know? If anyone thinks Paul Johnson's attack would win championships in the SEC, then you must be on drugs.

Go watch tape of the 96 Fiesta bowl or 98 orange bowl where Nebraska pummelled SEC champs with the option, when all the talking heads said the option wouldn't work against an SEC team.
62-24 vs 12-0 Florida
42-17 vs 11-1 Tenn

Well we should run it better but it would be crazy to expect it at GT's level seeing as how that's all they work on with a coach who is an expert at it.
Well let's run something that OUR coach is an expert at.

HELLO! Yes, are Ga Tech personel better than ours. NOT! Coaching staff needs to view the way Ga Tech runs the triple option and then make adjustments to our offense so we can run it as effectively.

The option is very easy to defend if you remember your assignments. That being said Jefferson does a horrible job running the option. He does not grasp the fact that you have to make the linebacker commit to him or the pitchman. Also, he does not maintain the spacing for the pitch; thus allowing one man to cover two. Therefore, the play goes nowhere. On occasion, it is executed properly and we have good gains. Inconsistency at QB is a huge problem at QB for us.

BTW, Georgia Tech has only oneloss, same as LSU.

Did we not beat GA Tech ?

For you youngsters...there was a time where A LOT of schools ran the OPTION ( Triple Option )
once D coordinators got the D to play with discipline, they became EXPOSED.
It is also not a good "come from behind" scheme.
It works mainly when opponents are not disciplined or accustomed to it.
Posted on 10/18/09 at 10:17 am to lsu xman
B/c Tech uses deception and multiple backs compared to JJ and one back, with LSU it is obvious where the ball is and will go. More importantly, when Tech has it going their entire team is blocking or screening enabling the ball carriers to pick up large chunks of yardage past the LOS. Most fans simply don't believe LSU will ever be productive with the option as they try to run it, might as well call it a pitch sweep as that is all that ever happens.

not enough discipline in offense....
and.. running option without "option" qb is like flying a plane without a pilot....
