They do. They just realize they won't get a fair shot at LSU.

Holy shite. Do you really believe our coaching staff doesnt play the qb that gives the team the best chance to win?

JJ&JL both had good senior years. JJ also had a good sophomore year in 2009.

I think as we attempt more passes, we will get more QB interest. It IS a great place to come and win, but most QB's want to throw it more than 14 times a game. QB's are coming out of these spread offenses in high school where they are throwing it 60 times a game. The NFL is now a "passing" league. We will probably never throw it that much, but if we can throw it 30 times a game I think it will get easier to attract them.

High school kids and coaches know this is the missing link and both know its the position that takes the most time to develop. I think this is one reason why many coaches in high school still prefer to run a wing t and other run heavily based offenses. Just my observation however

IMO it results in many recruiters recruiting the few top quarterbacks that are available. And with such a run heavy offense that lsu is I couldn't blame a 5 star qb by not coming here.

LSU developed even a guy like ZM who could not run for 15 inches. Before that we had QBs like JJ and Lee who should not have been recruited.

Looking at LSU's past, Mett was one of the best, purest pocket passers, with a cannon for an arm and we didn't win a championship. We put up some huge numbers on O but at the end of the day LSU needs a solid and consistent QB. And of course, Jennings was not even close last year. What was his Passing %, barely 48%? Thats horrible. Even an average QB makes 55-65% of his passes, which is probably the difference between 8-5 and 11-2. I hope we are delightfully surprised by one of our QB's.

Miles wants a running QB who is typically ill-prepared to see the field with composure. Don't blame the kids. They see the writing on the wall and go elsewhere. Miles says the word "compete" and it is meaningless. After 10 years, people have caught on, even HS kids (with some guidance). And the other coaches are certainly bringing it to their attention in "negative recruiting".

I believe that Les and co. have bungled the development of the qb position going back a number of years. I also believe Les has done a poor job communicating the issues concerning the position to the public. Yeah, you might say coaches know best and Les doesn't owe the public anything, but I think it's clear to see that qb recruiting has suffered and Les's public support has eroded as a result.

What? 4 of the last 6 lsu qbs went to the nfl. Cam is known as a great qb coach.

Yeah, LSU actually does pretty good with QBs overall, but this place has a very short term memory.

Granted, the offense has been stagnant and painful to watch at times (most notably last year and at points during the JJ/JL years), but the fact remains that QBs who go to LSU have higher than average odds of getting on an NFL roster. In fact, the NFL ranks us at #5 as QBU:

LINK

And, yes...
1) I know some of those QBs have nothing to do with Miles.
2) He inherited two of them... and arguably a 3rd.

Regardless, JR, Flynn and Mett evolved into big-league players under Miles' watch and it's that time which allowed them to make the league.

Then there's Ryan Perrilloux. He obviously didn't finish at LSU, but he was a starter for two games (Middle Tenn. & U Tenn), and he made it on the NY Giants practice squad for a while. And Marcus Randall (under Saban) made it to the league as a safety.

JJ and JL are the only long term QB starters who didn't make it, and even they were invited to NFL camps before they were cut.

LSU is obviously not a glamorous destination for QBs and doesn't run a pretty, quick-strike offense. And the Studrawa OC years were a setback in QB recruiting & development that we're just now starting to shake off. But almost every single QB in the last 15 years that had any meaningful playing time at LSU has at least been invited to an NFL camp. (Hatch and Rick Clausen are the only ones off the top of my head who didn't.) In the greater scheme of things that's not too bad. And I do think-- if Cam is around for at least a couple more years-- we'll start to see some consistency again at that position.

J lee as a freshman = pick6. J lee as a senior was 8-0 as a starter. His career is a 30 for 30 film. Our current and new wr talent is waiting on AJ and BH to step up.

Facts prove otherwise. JLee and JJ both developed into decent qbs in 2011 and Mett got significantly better after his 2012 season. Posters act like Mett was developed by Richt and this is bullshite. Mett was in Georgia's football program for about 5 months. He enrolled in the fall of 09 and was dismissed in april of 2010.

he doesnt owe us an explanation.

No it hasnt. Jennings,Harris, and Mett ( yes Miles had to recruit him form juco) were all 4 stars. There arent many 5 star qbs every year.

Because they see highly recruited QBs consistently struggle here and flourish elsewhere.

That being said I don't know how you grow up in this state and not wanna play for LSU...but then again I was raised to love LSU whereas a lot of these kids were not

our offenses in the past haven't been QB friendly. I think that will change to some extent this coming season as Miles has hinted at that.
