re: Why can’t cell service get better in Tiger Stadium during games?

TS has a DAS which is a collection cell antennae that divide up the demand for cellular access. The problem is this is managed by a third party and access is sold to the carriers. The 3rd party is terrible

I'm on Verizon and never had an issue.

UF has free public WiFi throughout the stadium and campus on game days. They capture all data and monetize it via targeted advertising

I guess that bail bondsmen have a bigger marketing budget than I thought.

Bandwidth. Too many people on the same nodes/towers.

All about the dollars. There is technology out there improve the performance, but it is not cheap.

Once true 5G is launched and all the towers are updated it won’t be an issue. The capacity on the towers is better and the data speeds are faster. You would just need a phone that can receive the 5G signal

How about watch the game and put your phone down

Guess I'm in the minority, could care less what other game scores are when I'm in the stadium.
My guess to the slow speeds is all the people posting their selfies to social media

Strictly from a tech perspective the complete answer would be pages long. Some of the highlights,
More people in TS than the dome. On an average day the networks in Nola cbd can probably handle more than LSU’s traffic. The most important though is that TS only hosts 7-8 events per year and the cost to upgrade a network so fans can instagram their experience is not really needed. The Superdome hosts events all year round and has made significant investments into the network and infrastructure needed to allow Snapchat during the games.
I once had a conversation with an IT guy from a MLB team. The amount of money and time they put into their network was insane. But they host 80+ games per year and have to have things like free WiFi to keep the fans in their seats. A MLB stadium doesn’t hold near the amount of TS and it still takes hundreds of wiireless access points to cover the stadium. And these aren’t the cheap ones that you and I buy for our homes.

40K more fans in the stadium and several more K outside
I find it refreshing that my phone isn’t going off while I’m watching LSU play

How about watching the fricking game and not worrying about posting look at me things on social media?

Get a SatSleeve. You’ll be the envy of your section.
