I was hoping to publish this article as our Tigers were heading to Omaha, but what the hell! It still applies.

The greatness that is baseball.

Please chime in with your own thoughts.

P.S. Before I get hammered, I know I posted this to SEC Rant - but got no play.

I'd trade every single one of our baseball championships for a single basketball championship.

Baseball does nothing for the university while basketball and football could be and have been marketing giants when we are good.

Baseball also loses a frick ton of money while even an average LSU basketball teams blows them out of the water financially.

Sorry, but baseball is not "greatness."

Sure it has.

The names Shaquille O'Neal and Pete Maravich have brought in more conversation and free marketing to LSU than LSU baseball since the 1950s

That was excellent.

I prefer and, therefore, coach football.

But your article was excellent. I enjoyed it.

LSU baseball turns a profit every year

ETA: a larger profit than basketball in the last 2 non-COVID years (data for this season won't be available for a few months)

2019:
Basketball - $453,022 profit
Baseball - $464,109 profit

2018:
Basketball - $292,921 profit
Baseball - $345,536 profit

So true Shaq is more famous for his 3 years w/ LSU basketball publicity wise and has generated more money for the school than ever Natty ever won in baseball just fact. I love all LSU sports and wouldn’t trade a Natty in baseball for anything but don’t let personal preference distort the truth.

It's awkward that you present this as a fact and can be completely wrong thereby nullifying everything you said above.

And Id trade every final 4 appearance for another trip to Omaha. Everybody can throw a ball into a hoop. Congrats on being the low hanging fruit.

I know I'm in the minority, but Id even trade our football nattys for more chances in Omaha. That's because baseball is my favorite sport. Because this "The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball....It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again." is true. It brings me back to my younger playing days when my grandparents were around to watch. Its the only game that sees what you do and rewards/ punishes you accordingly (see tennrc this year). I dint give a frick how much revenue they produce. I don't get any of it. Thats a dumbass qualifier.

Also this..

is false. Therefore nullifying everything else you said.
