We should probably put a padded bra on them.
Some opposing team is going to spray paint them or do some shite eventually.

They are 5000 years old.
They have survived cat 5 hurricanes, river floods of biblical proportion, earthquakes, locust hoards, and a century of merciless abuse from tiny little asses sliding down them on cardboard boxes.
Short of a bulldozer or a few sticks of dynamite, they are not going anywhere.
Should they be given more respect? Certainly.
But I don't know what more within the bounds of reason could be done to protect them...

I've pissed on them before I am part of the problem.

They really should do something, before someone breaks them.

As a student I had sex on one of them and I swear I could hear the indians chanting or rooting me on. Pretty Magical !!!

The chants you were hearing were likely coming from your lady friend when she noticed you were rolling around in celery and big lakes pee and poop

Did they ever figure out what the hell they were used for? I've spent the last 15 minutes googling trying to find out and none of the "stories" (looked more like blog entries and tourist type blurbs than actual news articles) I've found even try to give a definitive answer.
Most of the stories were from like 2010. Kind of a piss poor job of archeology if you ask me, especially for a site in the middle of a college campus.
For some reason, I've always thought that most of the hill like structures from native american cultures that are found were like their garbage dumps of wasted disposal areas. Don't know if that's the case here but if people want things preserved it might help to establish exactly what the things are.

They are 5000 years old, kids sliding on them, weathering storms, etc, etc. They don't need 'protection' from kids; society needs protection from bored people searching for a cause.

They are 5000 year old landmarks that may have been used for burial(most likely not according to most reports).
That has been confirmed many times. They were NOT used for burials

somebody asks an honest question and somebody else uses his brain and finds a qualified answer....while others offer nothing more to the conversation than knee-jerk stupidity and sarcastic attempts at humor. seaux it geauxs on the rant. thanks for the info cause the mounds, IMO, are important to the culture of Louisiana and the personality of the campus.

But Lombardo assured the next step in saving the mounds is coming soon.
