If you believe that at any sec schools your crazy. College football is about making money with free labor, developing players for the nfl, and any touch it had with student enrichment and extra curricular activites has long since vanished. College football is a big business and has nothing to do with giving the students of a university something fun to do on the side anymore.
Then why does the NCAA burn so many calories making sure that the athletes go to class and practice no more than 20 hours a week and have scholarship limits and prevent pay for play and have any eligibility rules whatsoever? Just because so many of us like watching football doesn't change the fact that the purpose of all this is so that college students can have something fun to do.

Because I don't give a rip about aTm traditions. They apparently don't either, because they took their little brother syndrome and turned their back on their main rival. Now, they want to replace the Longhorns with us.

Just where do LSU traditions get respected? In 2011, LSU hosted TWO night games, NEITHER of which were SEC games!!. Where was the SEC bending over backwards to appease us?

Just wait until the SEC starts talking about moving our home game to Thanksgiving, because it's such a "good, traditional rivalry game". We already have shown that we have no ability to prevent TV from moving a game.

Now, for strictly personal reasons, the Friday game has worked out for me the last few years. I am able to get to them, whereas I have to head home on Saturday. But if the Friday game went away, it won't kill me.

As already said, the ability to have a bye the week before won't always be there either, so a quick turnaround is likely.

But here is the bottom line: This move is another in the many instances we are seeing that says LSU has no pull in the SEC offices. That has already bitten us, and will do so again.

I pretty much agree with this. I also find it hilarious that some people try to make it sound like if you go to the game it means you don't have a family, aren't a "family" person, etc. As if any of those assholes know jack shite about any other person's family situation.

It kind of works out well for my family, at least the years we play in CS. My entire family lives in the same city as me, but my in laws live in west Texas. It should be easier for us to see each other on Thanksgiving now.

Can anyone tell me how playing on thanksgiving benefits LSU in any way as Opposed to playing Friday or Saturday?

Here's some negatives to it:

1. Decrease in attendance of traveling LSU fans

2. Less viewers (going head to head with the Dallas cowboys, you will lose that ratings battle every time)

3. Bending over for A&M's traditions when they have just joined the conference last year

4. LSU traditions are not important to the SEC apparently.

Screw that. Thanksgiving is for getting up and going hunting and then having a big meal with family. I won't be making any of the games either at home or away.

I'm looking forward to smashing some yard bird, drinking too much, AND being able to watch the Tigers play with everyone. For all the "family first" arguments in here (I'm in that same group), I don't see how you aren't excited about being able to do the same.

I don't see where anyone is saying that at all. A lot of families in La are all big LSU fans will either tailgate their thanksgiving or eat early and either go to the game or watch together on TV.

The point is not everyone's family is like that. Its one thing to ask to skip or schedule an appearance at a kids B-Day because its the Florida game and quite another to adjust Thanksgiving. A lot of people have schedules on a Holdiay that will conflict.

the Friday afternoon game always messed up an evening hunt. A Thursday night game will be great, in that regard

Not many married people with families will skip out on thanksgiving to go see an LSU football game 6 hours away on thanksgiving day.

It's absurd to even think that this is reality.

The Cowboys play at 3 on Thanksgiving this game will be a night. However, you will lose to any NFL game, especially if they keep putting high profile games like NE-NYJ and Pitt-Balt on that night.

Well if they play at night they won't be going head to head with the Cowboys. They play at 3 30 in the afternoon. I assume the LSU A&M game will be played at night.

still trolling I see. 20-22 hours of extra rest is basically meaningless.
