So, the games will barely crack 50k in attendance and tv ratings will be around 1?

rant gonna rant.

"if you don't like it, deal with it!"

...which is basically what is being said to most of the LSU fanbase with the coin to make away games. But, hey, it is what it is. Us middle-aged LSU fans with kids and at the career peak of disposable income, we'll just be content to never be able to make this away game. Sweet.

I do think there will be LSU fans there. Apparently, all you young whippersnapper DINK households and students (who apparently have no commitment to go home for mom's cooking) will be there in droves, as will Houston LSU fans. Cool. Glad we'll represent.

Just bummed that I won't be in that number anymore.

Agreed.

Do 90% of the fans buying tickets for the Friday after Thanksgiving game in Tiger Stadium want it there...or are we simply told to shut up and like it?

Yes. And A&M is the school putting on the game. They want their game on Thanksgiving. Let them do it. It could be fun. Don't be a bitch.

This isn't relevant. It has nothing to do with why the A&M game is on Thanksgiving. The LSU/Arkansas game was moved to Friday many times because of a CBS deal to which all SEC teams are subject.

yes but many will be not attending against their will.

i would really want to go. this is making LSU fans give up one important thing up for another important thing. this isn't as simple as "if you don't like what's on tv, change the channel".

what the bitching fans (myself included) are bitching about is that we should not have to choose. which my whole argument is, it's not outlandish that this is rational complaint.

and i'm totally omitting the whole "you think the SEC would make Bama play a TG game?" argument. yeah...i'm gonna omit it. because they wouldn't ya know?

I don't understand why we have to make things so fricking complicated. The game was fine on Saturday. Then, CBS wants it on Friday to catch some extra revenue. Now, move it to Thanksgiving.

Just leave it the frick alone and let it be on Saturday.

My Thanksgivings are terrible and optional, and this sounds amazing. I read the whole thread, so I do understand lots of people have non-negotiable holiday plans every year. But were those people really having a full Thursday of family and still traveling to Little Rock for a day game the next day? That doesn't sound very manageable either.

Playing on Thanksgiving is Texas A&M's tradition. It is not LSU's tradition. Horrible idea.

This already has the feel of another forced rivalry. Texas A&M is Arkansas junior.

So CBS doesn't want to televise the LSU - A&M game when it's played in college station, so the SEC allows them to move it to Thanksgiving...but CBS does want to televise the LSU-A&M game when it's in Baton Rouge and they'd like it to be on Friday so it is.

Is this really what you're attempting to argue here?

Wouldn't be a problem if we hadn't thrown Tulane away. We threw away our most traditional game and we're bitching about others not respecting our other traditions.

CBS has an NFL game on Thanksgiving, they also have deals that limit the # of primetime games. They also may not be allowed by contract to show a college game opposite an NFL game. If the game is on Thanksgiving it will be on ESPN.

I would prefer they were all on Saturday, but if the alternative is Friday afternoon I hope we move it to Thanksgiving night when we play them at home also.

Why does it have to be either/or? Why is LSU put in this position to begin with? There are 12 teams other than LSU and aTm. If playing on Thanksgiving or the Friday after is such a big fricking deal why aren't the other 12 bitching because they aren't playing? If the networks want a marquee game for Thanksgivng or Friday let Alabama play Auburn, or South Carolina play Clemson, or Florida play Florida State and LSU play it's home game Saturday night. Let's see how many of those schools jump at the chance. My guess is none will.

No, I'm arguing that I don't care and nobody else should, either.

A&M's tradition is to play on Thanksgiving, so it makes sense for them to play on Thanksgiving.
LSU's tradition is to play Tulane, but LSU doesn't want to do that, so we need to not bitch about others not caring about our traditions when we don't care about them, either.
