Why does Bama re-load while LSU fights it out for 2nd in the division (and apparently next year too according to some)?

Why does our offense sputter?

Why do all LSU opponents seem to play LSU as if it were their championship?

This is not an issue about coaching (x's and o's), but about philiophy. Ground and pound, between the tackles type football is about imposing your will. Against SEC caliber teams, it takes longer to do, but it evenutally will win out. Hence, this is why he continually 'just' wins 10 games a season.

I've criticized his decisions as a coach (still dont understand the 1/9 game), but that aside, you're going to be continually frustrated if you don't appreciate his style of play. you need to accept that many games will be close, but that LSU will win in the end if you trust the "process"... you need to enjoy the style of O he plays. it really is a great philosophy and I personally enjoy the slug fests rather than 100pts per game like the PAC12. then again, i love soccer too (most americans dont understand the beauty of a 1-0 game).

LSU had 1 close game last year in the regular season, the win against Bama, and if you don't think that LSU is reloading as well you must not follow the recruiting of athletes that LSU gets each year.

Why did you forget about 2011 where we crushed so many opponents?

I suppose you may have forgotten how we blew the doors off of teams like Virginia Tech, Miami and Oregon.

Really I think without the rash of injuries and suspensions this year, a lot of these games would have been blow outs.

This was not a coaching decision issue IMO. The biggest issue for these close games is the mental maturity or age of these players. We are playing a lot of young guys who have not experienced the difficulty in the SEC.
I told my son after the JH33 TD and we went up by two TDs what was fixin to happen. The LSU squad that took the field looked like they thought the game was over...

The blowouts last year set an unrealistic tone for this season, but were the simple product of:

-an Aub team that had begun its slide toward the bottom of the SEC
-a UF team that had a new HC & 2 true freshmen trying to play SEC QB
-a UK team that rarely matches up against LSU
-an OM team that had mailed in the season for Lame Duck Nutt
-an Ark team that was talented but couldn't respond to a challenge
- a UGA team that is soft & can't overcome adversity (will happen again this year in the SECCG)

If you think about it, MSU gave the Tigers the next best SEC game, which should never happen.

Just shows how good the 2011 team was.

2011 was an aberration. The coaching philosophy is not style and flash. It's grit and grind. It's Big 10 football now played in the south. We just have to accept it.

Because we sometimes play down when not ready for lesser competition. And teams do get ready for us

Our offense is not that good / Shotty playcalling

Defense has been on the rags after their great efforts early on were not supported by the offense (See Florida game). What happened to Bama last 2 dries of each half had some effect on them.

Those are the main issues. However, we are a couple of plays from the NCG!!! Imagine if he had the right offensive coaching? Please Miles, you wasted 2006, end of 2011 as you did not prepare and gave up. Then 2012, it was OK, but the offensive shite is on you!!!!

Those are facts on what happened

We do not have a legit OC. Anyone satisfied with Stud must enjoy sub 300 yard offensive outputs.

There's far too much talent on the offensive side of the ball for LSU to put up the numbers they produced yesterday.

I suspect Stud will return in 2013.

We are reloading, just not to the level of Alabama.

Seems to be. In 8 seasons 2011 was the only one where LSU dominated the scoreboard. Even 2006 and 2007 were not like that.

Meanwhile Bama rolled in 2008, 2009, 2011, and 2012. Not every game of course but most against lesser teams.

We reload every year, but if you have subpar offensive coaching we will always be second fiddle in the west. For you sunshine pumpers, yes we beat Bama last year 9-6 but they embarrassed and beat us in the BCSCG.

i think that bama plays a lot of good teams early in the season, so their defense is a step or two ahead of most offenses. while LSU tens to play better offenses later in the season. Not trying to find excuses, just my observation.

Having the Arky game early in the year does seem to be a benefit. Plus avoiding Florida helps. Of course we were lucky to catch aTm early this year.
