Nothing has changed for me. Didn’t like him then and I don’t like him now.

It’s simple. I’m rooting for him because he’s LSUs coach. But to say he’s done well so far is just flat wrong. He botched a YUGE hire and lost to goddamn Troy and MSU.

That is not good.

But hey, he set an offensive record vs a horrible Mizzou as interim.

I’ll give him props for Burrow, who Miles probably couldn’t have landed due to offensive stubbornness. And Fulton being back has to be a positive for O.

But overall he’s still behind the eight ball. Tons to prove and plenty of mistakes have been made.

Coach O is the President Trump of SEC Football. The good things he dies gets minimal or no press coverage. No respect. He just might make them eat their words. GO TIGERS.

I think the majority of realists don't hate O. We hate Alleva for making such an asinine hire, when he had months to vet other candidates as a backup plan to Herman. And then throw in O's ridiculous buyout for icing on the cake.

Can't blame O. He played Joe like a fiddle.

think the point of concern is that LSU did need a change, most would agree, but nobody was prepared to see O become the HC replacing a fired Les.

It’s really a shame. LSU just needed a new offense, not necessarily a new HC.

Well Les was given the opportunity to get a new OC , he didn’t so yes it was time to move on . But the truth is Alleva should have been fired first .

I was just asking how did O go from being a favorite of the media to not even being respected,by the media not LSU fans .

Well Les had that opportunity given his success here.

How did he fail at USC? The OP has a valid point

Dude lost to rivals Notre Dame and UCLA. Barely beating Stanford at home was his one bright moment. They did not want him there after that. After the failed Sarkisian experiment, they have been 21-6 with Helton over the past two years. They have also won a Pac 12 title.

Then at LSU he loses to "rivals" Bama and UF. His one bright moment was beating a Louisville team that had been falling apart at the end of the year (lost to Houston by 26 and lost to Kentucky at home to end the regular season). Will Ed O be our Sarkisian? Will Aranda be our Helton? Only time will tell.

He wasn’t the right man for the LSU job. He said he learned from his mistakes at Ole Miss and yet he is making the same mistakes at LSU. He lied about what his management style would be, basically a hands-off coach(CEO). Last year he decided to take over the offense in the Troy game ( what a joke a d-line coach taking over the offense) and we all know how that turned out. Plus he overruled Canada when Canada wanted to play Brennan and O wanted Etling. A man has to be true to his word, if not his integrity is questioned and he loses respect.

I've touched on this before, but I just don't have the desire to go into much depth..

O's interim stints are really not as great as made out to be .

First off he inherited both absolutely loaded teams.. teams that were expected to really compete those seasons.. extreme talent.. and they were playing loose with nothing to lose.. they they started playing up to potential for a few games.. and yet he still wound up losing an additional 2 games in BOTH shortened seasons.. and they were to teams he really should have beaten. The losses at USC should have never been and the loss to Florida at Home was pretty weak, but people make excuses about fumbles.. LSU should have scored more TDs against that Florida team regardless, but it's whatever.

So the extremely talented teams he simply took over won some games against some much inferior teams, and still found ways to drop multiple games.. and everyone gets all emotional for him.. He didn't earn anything there. That's ridiculously low standards.

Again, to answer the OP's question of what changed.

What changed is someone actually DID hire O as HC.. It's one to to call for it, but had USC actually done it.. they would be doing the EXACT same thing they are doing now.. It's really that simple.. They wouldn't really respect him as a HC.

Again though, he has the opportunity to actually earn respect as a HC, or continue to be considered mediocre. This is the season to do so.

So we shall see.

The same Uber talented teams that got their prior coaches fired during the year?

Praise as a fricking D LINE COACH. Do we really need more threads about this. Are you guys truly confused as to why he doesn’t get respect?
