Besides Tiger Stadium, there's no better game day atmosphere in sports.
Wrigley is a shithole and isn't even the best gameday experience in baseball let alone sports in general.

Sure, I can't imagine anyone would argue that. But to host football games?
It's seen a lot of great football. The Chicago Bears played there from 1921 to 1970.
Yankee Stadium has also seen a lot of great football. The most famous halftime speech in all of sports was given by Knute Rockne at Yankee Stadium against Army in the 1920s. Another great ND-Army game was played there just after WWII.

The remodel of Wrigley will ensure that a football field properly fits (unlike the embarrassment a couple of seasons ago), but NU playing there is nothing more than a novelty to continue marketing themselves as "Chicago's Big Ten Team".
Unless the Wrigley remodel greatly expands its capacity (which seems unlikely), they won't host a major non-conference opponent there.

Per the article, the upcoming renovations will make Wrigley more suitable for hosting football games. Besides the stadium itself, I think Chicago would be a nice road trip experience for the team/fans. It certainly would be a change up from the usual season opening trips to Dallas or Atlanta.

Don't really understand the sheep...er, I mean Cubs fans, and their unabiding loyalty to a franchise that doesn't give a crap about EVER winning something. They have a fat TV contract and a bunch of fans that buy up tickets like sheep, I mean drunk sheep..lol
This about sums up my thoughts as well... Even though the LAstros have been God-awful these past couple of years, I can always take heart in knowing that the Astros have won more playoff games at Minute Maid Park (not including the Astrodome) than the Cubs have at Wrigley Field.

Only if you don't count the games the Cubs played in the same exact stadium before they started calling it "Wrigley Field". I always love retard Astros fans that try to make fun of the Cubs. When exactly did the Stros win the WS?

Hey man... I was giving you the years in the Astrodome as a buffer. Sorry your team sucks worse over the past 100 years than mine!
No need to be hostile!

That is debateable.

We would have zero benefit playing a game in Wrigley or Chicago at all. No recruiting benefit, shitty opponent, no home game revenue.

Baseball i will be there in a heartbeat. LSU would never play football there.

On a scale of 1-10, football at Wrigley ranks a -5. No replay board! Tiny crowd! Could be cold as hell even in a mid fall game. No place to tailgate. Need I say more.
Ive been to Wrigley and it is a dump by modern stadium standards. It is a nice little baseball stadium because of its style but the absence of a video board is a major bummer.

Everyone should admit that the stadium itself is historically significant. Most would admit that it looks pretty damn cool too.
Yes, and yes, as a baseball park.
Neither of which makes it a remotely good venue for the game of football.
It's certainly a glorious place otherwise.

It is still not that good of a baseball park. It is mainly just historic. I was at a game a couple of yrs ago and was sitting in the upper deck on FB side which were still good seats. Concessoin stands were on next level down and about the size of a my bathroom. I had to take a pee so I had to hump all the way down to the ground level and I missed Zambrano throwing a temper tantrum and getting ejected and then emptying the dugout all because I was in the pisser. No replay of controversial play.

They don't do this in any stadium.

It's quite historically significant as a football stadium. The Bears have at least won world championships there.
If the Cubs get what they want, the remodel will make Wrigley a good venue for football again.

Yeah until somebody runs smooth into the outfield wall.
Yeah. The last time they played a game there, you had like two steps out of the EZ before there was a brick wall.

I was aware the Bears played there back in the dark ages of the NFL.
That still doesn't make it remotely a good football stadium.
Its history is not the only reason it's a nice baseball park (although, it certainly plays a big factor). It's simply a lovely place to watch a baseball game, on a nice afternoon. I've never been one to judge sports venues on things like bathroom access, nice concession stands, and replay screens, though.
