I FULLY understand a player being concerned about his number. I don't understand why a fan cares!

Well damn, maybe we just shouldn't even recruit the consensus #1 overall recruit if he sucks that bad.

Now we are doing 7? Are we doing 18 also? Let's give 69 to the biggest pussy hound on the team.
How come 37 or 3 or even 72 wasn't honored back in the day. The whole thing is dumb. Matt Mauck cooked it up with the equipment manager and now all the little millenial myopians worship it.

if one more number tradition pops up you'd convert me to your thinking. As it is now its fine I think. One number is earned (18) while the other is taken (7). It's like having permanent team captains. 18 is your best example of a humble, hardworking leader. 7 is an absolute animal. Both numbers are worn by major team leaders.

The problem with that is an OL cannot wear either number. What if Anthony Munoz played for us this year?

True. If they are going to let tackles be eligible on unbalanced lines then why not let them change numbers?

What if LF stays for his SR year and is awarded 18?

Donte Jackson

He should wear 25 and that should become the new number.
