Mills twin Braylen playing nickel?

Martin will start. He is the best combinations of experience and athleticism. Battle will be between Mills and Jefferson for the other spot. Probably Mills at the beginning of the season with Jefferson overtaking him as the season goes on.

If Martin can get back to his 2012 form then maybe. He looked really slow last year and his tackling is not all that great for his size IMO.

Yeah I think Jefferson is more talented than Martin.

I like Thomspon a lot more than some of you on here. I think he was really starting to improve before he got hurt. His injury sounded bad though. Any update on his rehab?
I do to but I recently heard there maybe a redshirt in his future which might benefit him

I hope Martin balls out this season I imagine last season was rough for him with the loss of his father.

Seemed to recall that Martin is supposed to have some freakish athletic ability. I expect him to start alongside Mills.

I think our defense may be 2011 like with a slightly less superior DLine better LBs though.
our offense will probably resemble 2010 unfortunately resulting in 2 losses…2015 'SHIP

SS: Ronald Martin
FS: Mills? If unavailable, Ricky Jefferson / Jamal Adams.
I thnk Martin is going to have a big year. Last year was a rough year for him, and not just with football. His Dad passed away in the 3rd or 4th week of the season and he didn't want Ronald to miss any football. Then he broke a bone in his foot a few weeks later.
And he was playing a different position. He was at FS and is much better suited for SS, which is where he will be at this year.
And yea, Ronald Martin is a freak athlete.

Can i just point out that it is incredible that so many answers are possible. This is theoretically the deepest DB corps that LSU has ever had

Mills, Thompson/Adams and would love battle to push. Too bad we can't play more nickel with welter out and mills making plays in the slot jamming and blitzing.

This is going to be a very good defense!

Collins and Thomas are different types of players, so I don't disagree, it just depends on the situation. Thomas is a better edge rusher and plays that hybrid DB/LB position in our mustang defense well. Collins is more of a cover corner type and will be used in obvious passing downs. Both players will see the field and bring something different to the table.
Thompson and Marin is a different argument. I've gone back and forth on who I felt was better at different times, but I really feel like Martin will come back determined this year. I think he's a rangier player and the coaches will put him on the field for that reason. Both of those guys are coming back this year with something to prove though, so we'll see how it plays out throughout the season.

I would rather have Jamal Adams at FS and Mills at SS. Mills can lay the wood and has subpar range and cover skills whereas Adams as some of the best hips I've ever seen in a safety and great range, reminds me a lot of Earl Thomas with their size and athleticism. No way am I bashing Mills, just my 2 dollars

FS: Mills
SS: Martin
Although we'll get to see plenty of Jefferson at either safety spot. It'll be really interesting to see which freshmen push the older safeties. Adams and Battle will see their fair share of snaps depending on the situation IMO.

Agree
I think Battle is gonna be getting a lot of playing time by mid season.
