Sorry, the premise of this thread is to give more than the benefit of the doubt. 0 hasn't earned it yet.

O has to make the playoffs this year
Miles won a natty in his 3rd year and a legitimate BCS bowl in his 2nd

You won’t find a post of mine extolling that premise. However, the facts are that Miles was in a long-running QB rut that he couldn’t solve. That’s what got Miles fired, not the 3 loss threshold that you fools argue over daily.

Go look at that 2016 offensive recruiting class and compare that to the players Saban left for Miles.

GTFO with pretending you're reasonable on here. No one is buying that BS.

O hasn't exactly solved the QB issue
yeah we lucked into what appears to be a solid transfer, but Miles did that, too. like with Mett, it's questionable what happens after

I was unaware only 25 players played at a time

He lured in transfer that’s at least equal to Mett, signed a 4-star this year and has two committed for 2020. Narcisse, Scott, McMillian, et al were no match for the SEC.

There is no doubt that Miles ineptitude helped build Bama’s dynasty. If a deserving or qualified coach had taken over our program in the state Saban left us, no one could have overtaken it so easily. You put a dunce in charge of an empire it will eventually fall. Thanks les.
Jesus Christ.. Please don’t reproduce

There’s one full time offensive starter from 2016’s class. That creates a hole down the line when they become upperclassmen. You saw that hole last year.

Who was our recruiting coordinator for that class?

How do you know these incoming guys are?

miles recruited a shite ton of highly regarded prospects, too

Nothing premature at all. Both were first time starters as RS juniors, Burrow’s junior stats were far better than Mett’s junior stats. Mett played with much better WRs, too. 2019 should be very fun to watch.
ETA: and Mett spent a RS year on campus, Burrow arrived in June.

Ehhh, Scott and McMillian were not.

we completely changed how we used WRs and switched the best athlete in that entire class, nationally, to defense (and he just won the Butkus)
that was also a defensive-heavy class, generally. 10 offensive recruits (including White as a RB)

Scott was just doing a local kid a solid b/c a spot opened up
McMillan was a backup for depth. he was never intended to be a starter
Miles recruited a ton of highly rated QBs including those guys

Do people forget Lee, Jefferson, etc were 4*
the QB's Les recruited were ranked, they just didn't pan out. No telling how these kids do
Posted on 5/1/19 at 7:26 am to tduecen
There’s a pretty clear pattern on why they didn’t pan out.
Coach O has been more adaptable in 3 years than Miles was over a decade. Yet people are quick to act like that Is a bad thing.

i'm waiting for the results, esp against Bama
also, early on Miles did tinker. we went from Jimbo to Crowton to Krag to Stud and tried out a handful of new offenses
it's just that Miles got shell shocked after 2008 and then 2011 made him think we could replicate that outlier luck so he tripled downn. O is tinkering (with vastly inferior early success) and may go down the same path
and for all of Miles's faults (and lord knows i wasn't quiet about them), his offense was better against Bama at the end of his career than O has produced up to this point
