Hands down either Y.A. Tittle or Steve Van Buren in football...Maravich and Petit in basketball. Do the research.

I did not know that Johnny Robinson played tennis.
another 2-sport guy of note: Joe Adcock. I think he was All SEC in basketball and while I don't know how good he was as a collegiate baseball player, he went on to have a long career for the Milwaukee Braves and I think he still has the record for most total bases in a MLB game.

Benny McArdle. I think he is the only LSU player to be selected all SEC in two sports. Played with Bob Petit in Basketball, pitcher in Baseball.

Considering Shaq had the highest peak in the history of the NBA, I'll go with him.

The correct answer is Mike Miley
Quarterback that led us to the Orange Bowl and shortstop that was drafted in the 1st round by the California Angels

The correct answer for football IMO is Jerry Stovall...He's was robbed of the Heisman Trophy. He was so damn good that he'd be a stud player even in todays standards.

Do you mean who was the best pure athlete ever at LSU? It could be Cassanova or Cannon. But as far as the best player at his sport (which I think is what you mean)it is Pete Maravich, absolutely, hands-down, without a doubt. Anyone who would say otherwise never saw The Pistol play. He was so far ahead of his time it was ridiculous. He is still the greatest ball-handler and passer that ever played the game. No one befor or since has ever come close to his ball-handling/passing abilities.

I concur about the Pistol.
I'd like to have seen how good of an NBA player John "Hot Plate" Williams would've been had he had the desire...Dude was incredibly talented, and a man among boys playing in college.

Not saying he's the best, but Xavier Carter should probably be in the conversation.
"At the same event the following year, Carter won national titles in four events and became the first person to do so since Jesse Owens accomplished the feat twice in 1935 and 1936.[4] He was also the first athlete ever to win both the 100 m and 400 m events on the same day.[4"
and
"On July 11, 2006, at the Grand Prix in Lausanne, Switzerland, Carter ran what was then the second fastest 200 m race ever, recording a time of 19.63 s. As of July 2010, that time makes him the fourth fastest man at the 200 metre dash ever after Usain Bolt, Michael Johnson and Tyson Gay"
