re: Who was LSU's last "freak" (athlete)?

Another guy was a OG at LSU and went on to play LB in the Pro's..
To go from the O-Line to be one of the better LB's in the NFL.......Freak?
Oh, on a side note: In addition, he played on LSU’s SEC champion baseball team.
quote:
He delivered one of the most devastating tackles ever filmed. In a game against the Miami Dolphins in 1972, fullback Larry Csonka circled out into the flat to catch a pass. Just as he caught the pass, he hit him from behind with such force that the 240-pound Csonka was nearly cut in half. Csonka dropped the ball and rolled on the field in agony. He thought his back was broken and literally crawled off the field (he was not seriously injured, however).

quote:You do realize, don't you, that "athleticism" is the noun form of the word "athletic", which means the attribute of being good at "athletics", right?quote:well then you're an idiot and don't understand what athleticism is
If a person has great measureables (speed and strength), but is not a good player of sports, I do not classify them as a great athlete.
And "athletics" means . . . well, here
quote:So pretty much any time someone decides not to describe someone who isnt' good at sports as "not athletic", they are pretty much dead on in their understanding of what athleticism means.
ath⋅let⋅ics  /æθˈlɛtɪks/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [ath-let-iks] Show IPA
Use athletics in a Sentence
–noun 1. (usually used with a plural verb) athletic sports, as running, rowing, or boxing.

quote:But those qualities on the football field are totally irrelevant to your definition of athleticism, according to you. If a guy doesn't post great numbers at the combine, then you insist he can't be athletic, no matter how fast, strong, quick, balanced, explosive and agile he was on the football field. You have consistently maintained that it is combines or nothing (except for the hilarious bit where you tried to cover your own hypocrisy in referencing Cassonova despite having no combine measurables on him).
speed
strength
quickness
balance
explosion
agility
these are qualities ON the football field

quote:Yes, WE do. Almost all rational, intelligent people do. YOU, however, consistently reject that notion and instead insist on judging athleticism only by physical attributes used in an NFL combine.
you judge athleticism by judging physical attributes used ON the football field

I don't see how anyone could not consider JR a freak athlete.
He is the clear answer to this question.

Oh yea, another guy who would be a freak athlete according to your criteria is Steven Korte. He fits every damn one of your points. I think he is the answer you are looking for.
hahahhaha

So, would Eric Hill and Michael Brooks be labeled freaks or just beasts?
Posted on 8/9/09 at 10:21 pm to SlowFlowPro
His name was Shawnson Johnson (I think). He was a true freshman at LSU around 2002? He outplayed Stromile Swift when he played against him in high school and was a great athlete. During fan day he did a Michael Jordan slam from the baseline and my jaw dropped. Brady kicked him off the team less than a week later supposedly 'cause he wouldn't cut his dreads and his gold teeth had Brady worried about LSU's image. This dude was a freak athlete and I don't know where he went after LSU. Anybody remember him? He was about 6'10" and was a very versatile bigman who could jump out the gym.

SFP I've never met you but judging from this thread and the fact you waste your "life" on this board all day everyday.....I'm assuming you are a freak.
Not in the athletic sense but more of an outcast.

i'm still waiting for that to happen
if you want to change what i said, then yea they're right. but if you actually respond to what i asked, nobody has really proven anything other than they want to change what i say or they included these guys as their version of freak athletes
JR
Chad Jones
PP
Clayton
Webster
DD
Spears
Korte
Landry
among a few others that have slipped my mind

Steve Rehage...6'9" high jumper in hs, could dunk 1 step inside free throw line, proven on the fb field and puts on a great music fest.
