No, they won't. Don't see the defense getting markedly better. Along with that, we lose JD, he's carrying this team this year.

He has. And he’s done pretty well considering what he inherited.

Means nothing without context. He hasn’t even signed his second recruiting class yet.

More so, there is helium being built up in the 2025 & 2026 classes. You can see the shape it’s just impossible to piece together a team year to year through the portal. It has to come thru naturally.

LSU will lose their best three players on offense and the defense is historically bad at almost every position. Recruiting on the Dline , especially DT is not good. I expect next year will be at least 3-4 losses.

LSU will be better this next year with Juco Dline recruits and 6 incoming defensive backs

O line will remain dominant. Running backs better. Nussmier will be very good.

It would help if we gave Nussmier a lot of snaps in the next three games.

Hoping Jayden Daniel’s is ok

Better…probably not.

It will hinge on Nuss.

The Nuss bus guys that wanted to bench a Heisman hopeful in favor of him will disagree with me, but what has he done other than play well against UGA’s scrubs in mop up duty?

Has he been remotely impressive outside of that?

I mean, last night, he shrunk from the moment.

Unless Nuss steps up bigly, we are a year or two away from being in the mix imho.

I see 3 straight years of decline which is inexcusable considering the roster he took over. Haven’t had that at LSU since the terrible 90s! 10 wins last year, 9 wins likely this year , looking at next year’s schedule with House at DC we’re looking at 8-4 possibly 7-5.

If you get the right DC such as Jim Leonard who can coach these kids they will win. The talent is there on defense, especially the DL, they just are not being coached well. They need a really great DL coach, coordinator and a LB coach.

He was fine on the last drive. He hit Nabors right in the hands on 4th down.

He needs reps and consistent playing time to actually develop. We saw how far Denbrock and Sloan took Daniels. They’ve proven to be good at QB development.

LSU will “drop off” next year no doubt. THIS was “the year” that we had our offensive starters being the powerhouse that they are. Our troubles are not in the offensive skill pisition areas-
But NEXT year- THEY WILL BE

There’s not a position on offense that doesn’t have young talent already on the roster or committed and on the way, including WR and RB. Defense is the issue.

One may be forgiven for thinking that Nuss will get better with some playing time just as JD did. No?

He has not landed some big time players to play defense. Have some of the DL commits flipped? The defensive game planning has been awful complete with NO half time or any time adjustments. Milroe ran for 155 yards and House did nothing to suggest he was aware of that fact.

Perhaps. That being said, JD seemed to improve greatly over the off season, not necessarily as a result of PT. That being said, I think that Nuss should have been given more PT in games where the outcome wasn’t in doubt. He has gotten some, but I think that he should have gotten more. Just my .02 though.
