Who thinks LSU is still a top 10 (or even top 15) program at this point?

Last 5 years our final ranking averaged 16th AP and roughly 17th/18th for Coaches. With 2017 season assuredly lower than our 5 year average.....

AP/ Coaches/ Final Record including bowl

2016 13/14 8-4
2015 16/17 9-3
2014 23/NR 8-4
2013 14/14 10-3
2012 14/12 10-3

I know we are kicking a dead horse but it really is depressing on the downslope.

If you're solely looking at rankings, averaging a ranking of 16 doesn't mean you have the 16th highest average. I don't think our current value is a top 15 program, but that average of 16 isn't why, as that would probably put us in the top 10 of 5 year average end of the season ranking, and we certainly aren't a top 10 program currently

From a money and resources standpoint, LSU is absolutely a top 10 program.

From a coaching and program trajectory stand point.... not so much.

No, LSU is not a top 10 program. We all wish it to be true, but we're just not.

The rankings don't tell the whole story.
I believe LSU is definitely a top 15 program today largely due to facilities, money in the program, talent and talent bed. But bad leadership will steer us to the dumps if not corrected soon.

A fluid situation.

We are, quite literally, not a top 10 or 15 program at this point.

LSU should be a top 10 program no question, but our fans accept and promote mediocrity. 10 wins used to be the standard. 11 wins should be our average.

When O pumpers are telling us to be thankful that we had a 9 win season with losses to Troy and MSST, then you know they’ve truly accepted mediocrity and competing for championships is not something we strive for anymore. We are Wisconsin level right about now. Tier 2 program.

Will eventually not be even a top 25 program if changes aren't made in the administration and coaching ranks.

It's called regression to the mean.

This is not a sustainable 11 win program. Never has been and never will be.

It will always regress to about 9 - 9.5.

Wisconsin has a fantastic coaching staff that continues to do more with less talent. I envy their position. LSU may have more money and better facilities, but LSU as a whole, is currently infeirior to Wisconsin...right now.

10 wins has been the standard of our program for like 10 years of the 125 years we have been playing football.

I think that is a mis-characterization that has been repeated so many times that people now post as if it's irrefutable fact

BTW: Wisconsin has won 10 or more games in 7 of the last 9 years, with 4 11 win seasons, and a 13 win season this year. They won 8 and 9 games in the two seasons they didn't have double-digit wins. In that time they won 3 conference titles and 6 division titles. That sounds a hell of a lot like the guy we just fired.
