not to hijack the thread but the real battle is probably for the #2 spot.

Jeff should be the starter. He needs to get a little more confident and learn how to properly run the option. He seems to be scared of getting hit at times.

Honestly, as an experiment, I'd like to see what Shep could do running a Ga Tech style option offense. Our receivers are too good to actually implement this system (I'd feel bad for wasting Tolliver and Reub's talent), but on paper we should be able to run that offense much more explosively than Ga Tech did and God knows that their offense was better than ours.

on paper we should never finish as low as we did offensively last year

You have all participated in a social experiment, and there has been much failure.

The results were expected, however.

We would have won in 03 with Davey at QB.

Probably would have been undefeated.

We would have been undefeated in 07 with JR. . .no doubt whatsoever.

ETA: we would have likely won the BCS in 03 with Marcus Randall.

And yes, I am serious.

well you will be sadly disappointed. I doubt you see very many snaps from him. Jlee will be one teams qb and JJ will be the other.

Q: Who should be the starter at QB this Fall?
A: Fergie
Q: Reason?
A: After several billion threads about JJ/Lee/Garret/Shepard ... I just wanted to throw a new name out there. I think Fergie could do great things for us, although I would require her to play completely naked. No nudity, no scholly, that's the deal.

In the last few years at LSU we have had very very few games where there was "mop up duty".

I think that the competition should be wide open and whoever wins the job should play.

For some reason I still like Lee more than Jefferson, but neither has been outstanding on the field.
I don't think we really know until we see what our offensive philosophy will be and how players are used.
+1

Not really a hijack - that is what the thread should be about - whether or not Garrett will pass Jarrett Lee on the depth chart. If so, then Shepard will be back in the QB business because Jarrett Lee would likely transfer at that point.
