According to the rant, use this logic. If something didn't go right...O did it, if some thing goes right...someone else did

I think when Kiffin went to FAU, O just looked at who was perceived as the best OC available and hired Canada without expanding his search.

Canada was receiving much love last year based on Pitt's beating of Clemson at Clemson....the rest of the year, his offenses under achieved based on the talent and experience level that he had at Pitt.

The Rant starts to fall in love or out of love with some guy, and then goes full brutal on it. They were in love with Lane Kiffin.....They seem to conveniently forget that aside from his time as an assistant at USC when Carroll was there, every subsequent employer would love to punch him out.....Al Davis at Oakland, Tennessee, Pat Hayden could not wait to fire him after a loss and Saban got him out of Alabama to a G5 school and purportedly, there is no love lost between the two. Kiffin is talented, and his offenses can produce, but it seems as though he is hell to work with.

Then the rant latched onto Canada......

lesson, if tRant likes it, it is probably not a good idea.

Not a fan of Canada. Maybe worse red zone "offense" I've ever seen. Please spare me the give him "time" bs.

although I wanted to keep him I have to give much credence to your point. our red zone offense was very predictable and almost nothing but runs. when we passed we usually scored. of course, missing all of those field goals hurt tremendously. I don't know who directed our extreme conservatism in the red zone, O or Canada, it just wasn't effective. we would get to the red zone by mixing it up (play calling) and then stall with runs up the middle a la les miles but w/o the power OL

the only reason it was a mistake is because O had no idea what kind of coordinator he hired. Canada is a great OC, he's just the complete opposite of what O was allegedly looking for.

letting Canada go is dumb all around.

Given how it went sideways with O and Canada early in the season, this take makes the most sense.

Eaux hired Canada based on Dave Aranda's recommendation. Aranda had coached against Canada and lost by 3 points. The same year (I believe) he bought a house from Canada while moving to Wisconsin. When Kiffin fell through, Eaux asked Aranda who the thought was the OC he had faced that was the hardest to prepare for and defend against. The rest is history.

This is not true at all

That's stupid Of O to hire him just on a recommendation without doing any vetting. O dropped the ball.

They did the pre-hire interviews. If you can't take Aranda's word on a coach, who's can you take? Is Aranda not part of the vetting process?

Why the shite did we even hire O if he doesn't make his own decisions on personnel/assistants and doesn't coach either side of the ball? Why are we paying millions for a cheerleader/recruiter?

You can't really be this stupid can you?

So a HC is NOT allowed to ask advice from anyone? He HAS to make all personnel decisions by himself? Can't even ask the opinion of his associate head coach?

It will probably change and I haven't looked at every thread on the board but your post is by far the stupidest shite I have read today.

Canada was a rushed back-up after FAU offered Kiffin their HC job.

Well he's the head coach at LSU. He gets credit for good things and blame for bad things If he's in such a lose lose situation he could go back to being a DL coach and recruiter. He's good at that

How the heck is he in a lose lose situation?

Appears to be a win-win to me. Whether Canada stays or not.

The current/next OC will have two sophomores on the line that started most of their freshmen seasons, an experienced receiver that caught passes for over 1,100 yards and 13 TD's on 69 receptions and two QB's that have lots of talent and play different styles. Not to mention Foster Moreau and Tory Carter coming back.

o haters- he made a terrible hire since he didn't do a good enough background check

then complain when he fires him and they have no idea why other than assuming it was all coach O to blame
