Who picked Canada, O or Alleva? Was O forced into picking Canada by Alleva?

O and alleva. They both botched it. The should have vetted him better. hopefully they hit a home run this go around.

The mistake was hiring a guy and not letting him run his offense.

No matter who it is.

Not a fan of Canada. Maybe worse red zone "offense" I've ever seen. Please spare me the give him "time" bs.

And it's going to happen again.

4 years he's coached a team as the permanent guy. 4 years of meddling in offense. Don't know why people expect it to change.

I think it’s more just hoping it will change rather than expecting it. Obviously O must trust Aranda because I saw no indication he messed with the defense. Maybe if he actually trusts an OC he will let him run it. You have to hope anyway.

We are just rearranging the deck chairs of a sinking ship.
The problem is at the top.
we keep treating the symptoms instead of dealing with cancer.

You are spot on. Not only red zone, but our short yardage (goal line) offense is pathetic.

Coach O did not want to hire Matt Canada in the first place. He wanted Lane Kiffin, Tee Martin, or Steve Ensminger. Joe Alleva made the decision and Joe Alleva hired Matt Canada. I don't care if you don't believe that or not but it's from someone who everyone on this board knows and is inside the program.

Eaux hired Canada based on Dave Aranda's recommendation. Aranda had coached against Canada and lost by 3 points. The same year (I believe) he bought a house from Canada while moving to Wisconsin.

When Kiffin fell through, Eaux asked Aranda who the thought was the OC he had faced that was the hardest to prepare for and defend against. The rest is history.

That's stupid Of O to hire him just on a recommendation without doing any vetting. O dropped the ball.
