Renfrow performance was critical in Clemson's offensive production last night.

Why?

Renfrow with the RB were used a checkdown outlets for Lawrence last night.

Bama ran their typical stack the box defense and manned up on the corners. Instead of leaving a man in to block the extra rusher, Clemson said frick that. They spread bama out, sent their very talented WRs deep and used Renfrow and whichever RB was in at the time as outlets for Lawrence.

It was a simple but effective response by Clemson to what the bama defense was giving them. What is amazing is that Saban continued to stack the box and man up on the corners after getting beat. My only explanation is arrogance.

Nonetheless, Hunter Renfrow was a key player to an effective offensive attack by Clemson.

I hope E was watching. I hope E realizes going defensive (by not attacking) on offense is a pussy move.

His production was down, but the reporting an hour before the game was that Alabama was going to focus on taking Renfrow away. That made Ross devastating. Hopefully Chase can be that productive next year.

If we're being honest, I hope the coaches are much more worried about who LSU will use in the Justyn Ross, Trevor Lawrence, Travis Etienne, and Mitch Hyatt roles.

People seem to not understand why this is important.

I'm sorry, not buying this.

Renfrow came into the game with 544 yards and 1 TD on the season, I don't think Alabama game planned around shutting down that beast.

Justyn Ross had significantly more yards on the season and still torched Bama.

You watched the game last night and the the receiver you think LSU needs is a Hunter Renfro? WOW! I must have missed that part of the game.

I was thinking how did LSU let TE Smith out of the state. And the Clemson freshman WR is the type players we need to be getting from Bama. And Bama receivers are super quick. And Clemson receivers are clutch and make acrobatics catches. Hunter Renfro? Not so much. What were his numbers that impressed you so?

I know. I just brought up Renfrow because in the offensive scheme Clemson was attacking bama with Renfrow was Lawrence's third option and emergency outlet.

LSU's response was to leave a full back or extra tight end in and block instead of having a Renfrow in the game. The fact that Renfrow was running his shallow crossing routes was an indication of differing coaching philosophies to attacking bama's defense.

Again, that fact that Renfrow was in the game running his routes was simply an indication that Clemson was not going to go into the fetal position and fold against bama's stacked box. It showed that they were going to attack and if their OL didn't hold up Renfrow was there as a security blanket for Lawrence. The fact that Renfrow only had a couple of catches shows that Clemson's OL held up long enough for Lawrence to hit is WR's deep.

I know what you mean. I guess I was just trying to be too cute with the OP. I should have been more direct.

I should have titled the OP, "Does LSU have the personnel to attack bama's defense like Clemson did last night".
