We have tons of depth.

However, it seems that the person we can least afford to lose is OBJ.

My list

1.Mo Caliborne- if he goes down, the entire structure of our pass defense & aggressive nature with TM7 goes out the wind
2.Lee- i think this goes without saying
3.Brockers- I personally believe he is the anchor of our defense line. he has the most experience.

I believe we could plug another wideout in if he went down. Landry,Boone,Wright. I'm not taking away from the amazing wideout he's become so quickly.

TM7
hes the guy that makes our defense dynamic. without him, the defense suffers, and since we ride the D so hard, the team wouldnt be as good.

I do not think there is any one such player. The team is good, balanced, and deep, and we really do not rely on one player as much as some other teams do.

If I had to pick one, I would pick Baker because the LB corps is not a relative strength and is not that deep.

Interesting to see that on a team this good and deep, a true frosh, OBJ, is being selected by some. And I can't say they're wrong.

We are actually so deep right now, I have trouble finding the player. Based on just the last couple of games, it's frightening that it is, offensively:

True Freshman WR - Odell Beckam, Jr.

Defensively:

True Sophomore HB - Tyrann Mathieu

Special Teams:

Redshirt Freshman P - Brad Wing

the obvious answer is Joey Crappell...I'm comfortable with the backup at every other position

Are we really deep in O-line experience? That seems to be where we are most vulnerable from a depth perspective.

And I agree that the corps, generally, is the weak point, and not very deep. However, I was going by how many plays would not be made - I can't see Baker's backup (whom I like a lot, but he's not a superstar) missing plays that cost us the game. It would be a problem over the season, if his absence was significant.

BTW, LBer is the only position we do not have really promising young players. Good thing we have a bunch coming in from high school next year.

That is just it. I do not believe that there is one player whose loss would do the season in. Look how it has fared without its starting QB? This team is loaded with talent.

We are deeper than we have been in a long time on the OLine. Maybe we're not 3 deep, but we have 8 or 9 who can play. That's enough right now.

We as a fanbase thought the QB issue would be the "do or die" aspect for this team. i don't think the coaching staff felt this way.

True but who steps in for PJ if he goes down? T-Bob is hurt so who's next? A walk-on?

Simon.

Claiborne MIGHT be better, but Simon hasn't been beaten yet to the best of my knowledge. He takes the "other" receivers out of the game, and he allows Mathieu to roam freely. Mathieu might struggle on downfield coverage against big receivers, while Simon eliminates the big guys.

Good question. I assume at least 1, if not 2, guards have been cross-training as center. However, it would be dicey until whoever it is gets used to playing the position.

Have any of the young guys played center? I figure, even under ideal circumstances, White, Turner or Porter is going to have to cross-train at Center - might as well get the party started right now.

i still believe that Claiborne keeps the structure of our aggressive defense together. if you lose Claiborne what do you do to quick TM7 as a nickel/roamer typer of player? Put Brooks in as the #2 corner and have Simon cover the top wideout of your opponent.

dumb question. TM7 has been discussed in the heisman race. HE IS THE EASY AND ONLY CHOICE. no one else on the team is a consistent big playmaker.

randle/obj both have 2 or 3 tds. TM7 has at least 2 with another to the 3 yard line. tremendous play maker. no one else on the team can do what he does. we can replace anyone else but TM7.
