All about how you define it, Pistol Pete and all names listed are great choices, but for best athlete cannot have a list of 10 without Jerry Stovall, ran, punted, pk, returned, caught, threw, and coached when we were in crises, 1982 one of best year's ever and brought in foundation for Bill A and great run 1984-88. LSU treated him terribly at end...

David Browndyke > John Corbello.
David Browndyke was actually PERFECT on placekicks in his senior year.
I only ever saw him miss one FG attempt, but it was a costly one. It was his fifth FG attempt vs. Ole Miss in 1986. He made the first four, but was off on the fifth by inches, it would have been the game winner.

I guess my age is showing but I would have to say.....
Y.A Tittle
The Pistol
Billy Cannon
Jimmy Taylor
Shaq
Pettit
"Cholly Mac"
Jerry Stovall
I grew up idolizing most of these guys and was blessed to say that I either watched them in person perform or met them socially.

Pete literally changed the game. Not at one posistion but across the entire game.

Trindon Holliday.
The last great 2-way player for LSU.

All of those on your list were great, except one: what exactly did "Cholly Mac" ever do to deserve such praise? His teams, after the first year of 1962, always underachieved, and the Tigers were never ranked in the Top 25 his last 6 seasons.

Shaq. He's one of the most recognizable figures in sports today.

Shaq and it's not even close
Reasoning if you asked the rest of the country then 70% vote Shaq. The fan base will be torn but Shaq is top 3 on almost everyone's list. I think Shaq would get >20% of the vote which is a lot.

Billy Cannon, because of the first national title and the Heisman. Hopefully to be eclipsed this year by Fournette.
I agree but for me it's too hard to answer with just one player. In my lifetime the that I LOVED to watch EVERY play, hands down TM7. My top 10 in my lifetime:
Shaq, Chris Jackson
Casanova, Pat P, TM7, LF7, Dorsey, Faulk
Warren Morris, Theriot
