I would have liked to see what Ryan Francis from Glen Oaks would have accomplished before he was murdered. He led Glen Oaks to a 36-0 record in 2005 and won MVP in class 4a by averaging 22 pts and 5 assist. He was having a promising career at USCw by starting his freshman year before he was killed in BR.

I remember that. That was a horrible tragedy. He could have been something special, but like Livingston it was not meant to be.

Well being voted 2 time national player of the year is more than just a homer opinion. Seems to me that national experts felt the same way at the time. So therefore your homerism comment doesn't hold water. of course unless you think the voters on the national level were all from louisiana also.

Waste of my time.

Being great in high school does not mean you excelled as the competition became more elite at other levels of your career(like Dumars, Johnson, and Pack did).

Livingston was the greatest high school point guard in Louisiana history. But not the best point guard overall.

Livingston had the potential to be the best point guard ever out of Louisiana, but his overall body of work falls short of this title.

Randy Livingston, without doubt

Better than Maravich? Not close. Maravich was a better passer than anyone in LSU history and in the top 5 of all time period; he was a better scorer from anywhere on the court than Jackson. He put up 70 on Walt Frazier, at the time the best defensive guard in the NBA.

He holds the NCAA record, probably for all time, in scoring, and he did it in three seasons.

He had a very mediocre supporting cast, not even close the talent that Chris Jackson or Livingston had. With talent around him, he would have scored less but had a ton more assists and they would have had a shot at championships.

kjack-pistol was not born in louisiana, we are only talking about players born in the state, therefore pistol and chris jackson does not qualify. A2, i agree with your last statement, livingston was on the road to greatness. even when playing for lsu, he willed his team to some victories.

Jerald Honeycutt was a great point forward in college.

Bo Mccaleb had a nice college career too.
