He's an LSU alumni who started the wildly popular College Football News website(with some partners) about 20 years ago. He's one of the most knowledgeable MFers in the country about college football.
He's not an analyst for shite and his picks aren't that dead on, but he knows EVERY D1 football team inside and out. He puts ESPN's Bear to shame by a mile.
When not working, Russ is a diehard LSU fan with a lot of followers on the social media. Embrace Russ.

He’s just another journalist that’s paid to give his opinion on football.

Russ came to our tailgate party for the 2018 Bama game. Cool guy, and always hilarious to listen to. His rant 5 years ago or so on Miss State being unhappy with Dan Mullen was hilarious.

Don't hate on Russ Mitchell. He's one of us.
An LSU alum. Nationally known football writer. Very very knowledgeable. He has a nicely balanced perspective.
Most of all, he doesn't take himself too seriously. He's fun and interesting to listen to when Matt Moscona has him on (and you can't say that about that many of Moscona's guests).

He and Matt both have a deal, and it's pronounced when they are together, where they talk/laugh all the time. They speak while laughing or seemingly holding back an impending laugh.
I find that pretty annoying personall. He seems to be a pretty good dude but their act together I can only take so long with that constant giggling. He was and probably still is a masked Covidian type and kept saying it was ridiculous to start the season they would never make November.

Let's be real, MM-AFR called him to go on the show and keep the flame going, it's no surprise that MM is still butthurt that Coach O is the HC and won a natty and made MM look foolish

I remember when he said our best returning defensive player was going to be marcel brooks after he already was enrolled at TCU
