I would expect his role to much like what Evans has provided as a starter, 4-5 innings. You could define that as an opener, but it’s really not much different than what Evans has done.

Evans' average outing is 45 pitches. Almost double Noot.

Once they committed to starting him, he's made 3 starts of 85, 93, and 87 pitches. That is more than an opener workload.

Unfortunately he hasn’t been very efficient with those pitches in his last two outings, only providing 7 IP total. He’s exceeded 4 innings only once. He’s not necessarily eating up any more outs than Noot would even with more pitches.
