I think it's Justin Jefferson, Jarvis Landry, or Jamar Chase. An argument can be made for any of the 3.

Nabers and Josh Reed are also in the convo for sure.

Wendell Davis lacked the explosiveness of some of the other guys, but was a stud.

Was waiting for someone to mention Hamilton, was a stud for his era...
Same goes for Wendell Davis...

Reed is still basically top 2 in all areas and that’s playing in a different era than the rest of the top 5.

I would take JJ. I'm 55 y/o for reference. Perhaps recency bias, but LSU football consciousness goes pretty far back. I would go so far as to put Chase second.

Honorable mention: Wendell, Josh Reed, OBJ, 2020-first half of 2021 Kayshon Boutee, Michael Clayton, Jarvis, Eric Martin; plenty more on the list of great ones.

Given the history of the position at LSU, there are two options: Wendell Davis and Josh Reed. I am inclined to go with Josh because he was the focal point of the offense in 2001, yet he was still unstoppable. His Bama game alone makes him worthy of this.

I don't remember anyone being "that guy" quite like Josh Reed was. Might have been my age at the time but he was the DUDE.
This. What he DID to Bama in 2001 was SO BRUTAL. 293 yards receiving. I wish I could find that game on YouTube.

and the difference in your comment and his??

The difference would be exactly what he wrote - that they didn't re-record it; they edited it. THAT's the difference.

Wendell Davis was. Those two guys got the ball again and again when everyone in the stadium knew who it was going to. But they benefitted from playing at a time when defenses didn't cover like they do now.

The best receivers for a single year, imo, would be Chase, Jefferson and Nabers. For a career? I don't know, but it would be a different list.
