Honoroable mention to Kendrick Allen
Yes, there was a LOT of hype about him when he signed out of Bogalusa. I think he actually made it into the NFL briefly and was equally as underwhelming.
Lester Earl would be my #1. Cecil Collins and RP I would put in their own category. Talent-wise, they came as advertised, they were just too damned stupid to stay out of trouble.

Wasn't Lester Ricard a pretty decent recruit? Never saw the field at LSU.
He was the Quarterback at Tulane, did he transfer there from LSU?

I dont see how Ryan Perriloux was a bust ne never really played and when he did he was flawless. I dont think he should be in the bust category maybe this appointment

When the #1 player in the nation plays as much as he did before being booted off of the team, he's a bust. This guy was saying he'd win 4 Heisman's while at LSU.

Billy Cannon, Jacob Hester, Jamarcus Russell, Harvey Williams, Leon Landry, Brady James

Damian James has to be one of the biggest recent busts. He was billed as the next Charles Woodson, and I believe he had to redshirt his freshman season.
If I remember correctly, he was dismissed from the team during his senior year for failing a drug test.
Nick Child was a huge bust in the Saban era. He came in as the number 41 player in the nation in 2003 and never made an impact before getting kicked off the team. Does anyone know what he did? He was supposed to be a bright guy.
ETA: I wouldn't call Lavelle Hawkins a bust. He stayed one year at LSU, transferred to Cal and had an extremely productive career. He is now on the Titans roster.

Perriloux and Cecil Collins were not busts. Yes there careers ended in terrible self-inflicted fashions but there is no questioning their talent when on the field of play. A "bust" is somebody that arrives on campus and has none of the "tools" attributed to them by the scouting gurus and recruiting geniuses on message boards or has the tools but never displays them in an actual live game. Both Perriloux and Collins were incredible idiots but both of these guys came up big on the field of play. From my on memory Wade Richey is one of the biggest busts that I can remember. The guy came onto campus as an all world type kicker and had an extremely disappointing career. He got his stuff straight in the NFL and had a nice little career. I respect his perseverence and pulled for him while in the league.

Unless he shows up this year, I would put Al Woods in the mix....#1 position player out of high school and yet to make an impact. Also think Damien James makes my top 5. Sure the guy started for a couple years, but never lived up to the hype.
