Omitted! Forgotten! Thanks for trying. Now take your place by Russell Shepard. I knew this dog wouldn't hunt after the All Star game. He was awful!

Apparently you weren't trolling last time you posted this.
You're just that much of a fricking dumbass.

Let's wait until one of them starts.
Whoever the backup is will have more upside.

I have seen several posts over the last few days questioning who will be the starter next season, rettig, Rivers, blah blah blah. AJ is a solid QB PERIOD!

As if anyone on this site knows.

No one really ever knows for sure. What do you look for in a QB? Decision making, strong arm, mobility, athleticism, accuracy? He has all those, some which are unproven, but all signs and game footage lead you to believe he is the truth. How do you know Rettig, Rivers or Harris is better? You dont.

Parkway plays Byrd tonight so this will be his biggest test this year. Only time will tell.

Why the frick would you want a qb named the starter for next season... Especially being none have a single game under their belt?
I swear, some of you people are fricking retarded.

Not a soul knows what he will do in game situations. Harris may come in and beat him out.

There's a contingent that has already decided Rivers and Rettig aren't good enough to play at LSU, and I was addressing them. To put Rivers and Rettig in the statement would have brought on an argument.

Rivers has been leapfrogged by a true freshman. Assuming Miles still is somewhat gun-shy about playing youngsters at QB given the 2008 debacle, Jennings's composure and talent is likely phenomenal for that supersession to have occurred. In light of that, it seems likely that Jennings will hold off Harris for the foreseeable future, though obviously without the coaching staff seeing Harris in practice at the college level, it is impossible to say that Harris can't impress enough to usurp everyone. Still, Jennings is the safer bet. I have no idea who is more talented or has more upside, but Jennings seems the heir apparent, and Harris has an uphill climb.
Rettig has not fostered any feedback either way. He may have a different skill set than the rest and perhaps is a more long-term solution with more upside than anyone provided he sticks around the program and the coaches keep an open mind in the future. Even with the confusing Jefferson/Lee dynamic, there is nothing to suggest that the coaches won't consider Rettig a long term option, especially since Cameron ostensibly is in charge of these decisions and he wasn't a part of the previous Jefferson/Lee weirdness. Regardless, he clearly is behind Jennings currently.
In short, if Harris does have more upside, it needs to be clear, spectacular and combined with unusual maturity to engender enough trust to overcome a player like Jennings who has already proven the ability to jump an upperclassmen in the most important position in football.

Honestly think we'll have to see what Jennings can do in real game situations. Many players draw high praise in practice and camp only to have issues in the game.

quote:Agreed, but unless Mett gets hurt this year, we will enter next season with coaches' opinions on QB effectiveness based solely on practice. In practice, Jennings apparently has impressed, so Harris will need to overcome that to start anytime in the immediate future. Just seems logical to assume that Jennings is your 2014 starter, and Harris needs an absolutely transcendent pre-season campaign to have any hope to overtake Jennings before 2017 (barring injury of course). Obviously, to reiterate your point, Jennings may prove a disaster before that, and in that case, disregard my assumptions.

Jennings will be able to prove he's the guy next year. We will find out pretty quickly if his upside matches his public acclaim. I don't think Harris has to beat Jennings out in the fall to have more upside.

I do know that the second Jennings doesn't look good, the fans will be calling for one of the back ups. Never fails.

Maybe if such lofty expectations weren't put on these guys so soon, we wouldn't have this problem.

Measureables are nice, but ability to utlize those measurables is what makes a QB. We know nothing about any of them at this point.
