I watched with the volume down. I'm assuming Gary was slobbing off some Auburn player the whole game.

I don't know which aub player you are referring to because I didn't hear any of their names called in the broadcast. Heard Lawrence about 25 times.

For me, this was Rashard Lawrences best game at LSU

Triggered? GD heaped a ton of praise on Lawrence, White, Delpit, and Williams all game long

LSU fans have a syndrome that occurs during football broadcast. Actually, most fans that truly care about their teams have it as well.
When the broadcaster is talking about LSU everything seems normal and proper. The moment the broadcaster begins talking about the other team, the fan becomes agitated without even realizing why. If the announcer continues to discuss the other team, the fan makes a mental note that the broadcast team is against us. We have no interest in their team. Why's he talking about them?
Then, maybe the broadcaster goes back to talking about LSU and that agitated feeling goes away, but the fan remembers they had to wait to hear the love for his team.
Well this happens back and forth for 3 and a half hours, the fan walks away thinking "The broadcasters never talked about us!!!"
I bet if you went back and actually timed the announcers talking about each team, it would be pretty equal.

That's a great assessment and it may be true in a lot of instances but I've attempted to prove this formula before by just watching two teams play that I'm impartial to and paying attention to who the announcers talked about, for how long and what their reactions and inflections are to different plays by each team.
In some instances I've heard no clear bias and in others it was pretty clear that the announcers had a favorite. It just so happens LSU isn't a lot of people's favorite outside of Louisiana.
I agree that sometimes LSU fans overreact because theyre emotional about their team but in some instances I would imagine there's definitely a bias as, like I said, I've heard it in other games that I had no emotional investment in.
In this particular Auburn - LSU matchup, I didn't hear anything that really stuck out in my mind although it seems many others would vehemently disagree with me. I will say though, Verne Lundquist was definitely an Auburn, Gump, Gator cocksucker. Either that or he was just a front-runner fan.

And slobbed over Devin White and Grant Delpit the whole game. Gave a bunch of love to Rashard as well.

It was. The perception of bias is pure fantasy.

This is odd. But, I'm not being negative about it.

My guess: "no clear bias" was of evenly matched opponents. So, both squads were doing good things to be commented upon. The "had a favorite" would be when there is a drubbing. Like when Bama was pummeling Ole Miss...I am sure that there was plenty to be said about the good play of Bama. Not much to say about Ole Miss. That sort of thing.
I haven't detected the anti-LSU bias (in the in game commentary) that others seem to be certain to have detected. I think confirmation bias is the reason.

Curious why you think this is odd. You don't watch other teams play just to watch a football game and then listen to the way the games being called?

This certainly factors into it. When I'm talking about watching two teams impartially I'm talking about watching a competitive game not Ohio State vs. Northwest Iowa Community College.

Like I said, I agree with you here. I didn't really hear anything that was egregious in this last match up with Auburn. Sounded more like Danielson was just tired or hungover. He was definitely confused because he made a ton of mistakes in his broadcast that he doesn't normally make. He's usually pretty accurate and professional. I'm wondering if maybe he was sick. Had the flu or something.

Yes

I have never done this in an effort to prove or disprove a theory of bias in the call. I've never noted the bias (not that I've never perceived it. But, certainly not "noteworthy" , etc)
Again...I was not judging you on doing that. It just seemed odd. Odd is not bad, necessarily.

Gary kept asking when was Auburn's D-Line going to make a play.

I don't know who Danielson's favorite player is, but Deshaun Davis has 13 tackles, 4 TFL, 1 sack, and 2 QB hurries for Auburn. He was a friggin' beast and probably had the best single game of any player this weekend. Lawrence was awesome, but Davis was on another planet... and still lost.

And if he had taken his proper drop on the Dillon TD he could have been a hero!
But he didn't!

I didn't think you were and even if you were, I revel in my oddity anyway.
