We were SUN night as well and that is what worries most about tonight
You think most people are worried because we are a big favorite?
You know the odds have absolutely no bearing on the outcome of the game right?
We were also huge favorites on Friday and Saturday and it didn't seem to bother us too much.

Uh yeah, not even close.
Lines out currently
LSU -380 Hou +300
We are a huge favorite.
First off... who the hell bets on College Baseball?
Second, Vegas lines are set and move according to where most of the money will get placed, not necessarily based on who will cover or who will win. Ideally Vegas wants 50% on each side of the bet. They aren't out to make money on people guessing wrong on the outcome of the game for the most part... that is risky. What Vegas wants is to have even money on both sides, that way no matter who wins, they push the bet for the house, and make the money on the juice which is guaranteed profit.
Being that LSU has far more name recognition and fans and following, you would expect more money to land on LSU than HOU, so what they are trying to do here is swing money towards HOU to make it more even. No way do I think in reality that LSU is a true -380 favorite. But I do think they win.

Thanks for the unasked for and unneeded betting explanation.
No matter how you think it plays out wiseguys take advantage of opportunities, and yes even in college baseball. A blantant discrepancy out of place is a chance to take advantage of lines.
Also, even if most the money is on LSU, -380 is still a huge line, so whats your point?

When you post on a public board, what do you expect? Don't post if you don't want to discuss.

So are you now asking for a betting explanation?

The only reason anyone is bringing up the odds is that a theme from last night's meltdown was that Houston will be considered the favorite now.

Houston's ace is not Andrew Lantrip
Garza.
We won't see him.

I posted in response to ridiculous comments that Houston was the favorite and you gave me betting 101.

No, as TN Bhoy said, i posted in response to people claiming Houston was the favorite.
I will be happy to discuss baseball betting strategies in a different setting as I have done it for about 20 years and it is the easiest sport to mkae money on by far.

I do when there is a vulnerable line. Oh, and I do it well.

Gotcha. Didn't pay too close attention reading through the posts.
Yeah people will over-react after each loss. LSU is def still the favorite, despite what feelings tell you.
So would you agree that the -380 is a bit exaggerated?
Posted on 6/2/14 at 2:27 pm to dax9876
It never even crossed my mind to bet it if that tells you anything.
I actually thought more about taking the other side as at least one way or another I would be a winner but I just can't make myself bet against the Tigers.

Grossly, but the books typically have a huge amount of action on certain schools. LSU, has always been one of those schools. LSU fans are known for hammering lines based on emotion. On a sport like baseball they aren't trying to make a killing, the books just don't want to get abused.

Lantrip or West per dellenger

I wouldn't pitch the underclassmen. I would pitch Ford. He is better than West and Lantrip in every statistical category. However, I have only seen 3 Houston games this year, so what do I know.
