Tommy Casanova
Patrick Peterson
Honey Badger
Laron Landry
Corey Webster
Others that should be on this list way before steltz are Greg Jackson, Chris Carrier, Ryan Clark and Chad Jones. Jackson had the best single season for a safety in school history. And let's remember the forgotten group who was great but played on bad teams Corey Raymond, Anthony Marshall, Denard Walker and Tory James. All had NFL careers Walker was in a Super Bowl plus he and James played and started for about 10 years each.

So hard to choose 5 from dbu should've split it to corners and safeties.

not 2011 (probably his better season though)
He was 2nd team in 2011.

BUT steltz was a coach on the field, gym rat, brought his lunch pail type of player.
Cerebral throwback player, had football speed, instincts you can't teach, hardnosed and fundamental.

The one ppl are overlooking is Greg Jackson. AA safety probly the best single season a safety has ever had at LSU. 7ints 219 int ret yards and 2pick 6s including a 100yarder vs miss st. The guy was awesome. He alson started in the NFL for 11 years including for the Giants when they upset Buffalo in the greatest Super Bowl of alltime.

Yea he was a great one and before he was our Fs he and Chris carrier made up maybe our best safety tandem. I'd have to check Carriers accolades but I'm sure he made all sec if not AA he punished ppl kinda like Landry.

Steltz, a slow white guy, who thankfully got hurt before the 2007 NC game otherwise we may have lost?
Not top 5, not even top 10, where is Laron Landry ?

I don't think Steltz belongs on the list. A lot of safeties have been better than him. What about Ryan Clark?

Mike Williams has got to be in there. I think he played about 11 yrs in the pros. Look him up.

Actually Steltz was injured in the 2nd quarter of the NC game! Just to be accurate!

I don't think you've seen enough film. He got burnt a few times. But his upside was massive!
