2005 (pre Aug. 29th) and 2006. Those teams were both "better" than 2007 in an objective sense.

I call BS. We finished 8-5 with a Cotton Bowl loss in 2002. Nobody saw that team coming, not even LSU fans.
Call whatever you want... I made this the night of Fan Day in August 2003.

For whatever reason, that prediction hinged on Mauck's clearly different approach to being in the pocket after his injury the prior season. He had worked on his throwing motion and was standing in the pocket. There was enough around him to do great things, and we knew how nasty the defense was likely to be...the question, as it seems like it all too often is, was whether or not the QB was going to be a positive or negative.
Oh...I'll grant you the prediction didn't seem logical to many until after the UGA win, but I had certainly made it. And like I said, as good/great of teams as LSU has had since then, I've yet to feel the same way again. Maybe a legit shot, but not enough to call the shot like that.
That season was so memorable for a ton of different reasons, but it was personally so for me largely because it felt right from day one and to be standing in the Superdome that night and to see that lifelong dream fulfilled was incredible.

2007, 2011, and 2012. In fact before the 2011 season started, I told a coworker (USCw fan), that we had a two year window if we got past Oregon. Shout out to the 2006 team being one of the most talented teams ever alongside the 2011 team.

2007. Knew we were good, and after playing Miss State and Va Tech I thought it was a no doubter. It's crazy how vividly I remember those games considering how drunk I was
. Got past Florida and it was like the world came crashing down for that Kentucky game. Such a rollercoaster year when it came crashing down again for Arkansas. I was at the deer camp drinking by the fire when we were told to come look at the TV when Missouri and WV were going to lose. It's crazy to think how lucky I was as a student. I had Saban and Miles and some of the greatest games I can remember (started watching as a kid in the early 90's, so it was not that hard to top).

2007. 2011 once Jefferson was arrested.

Every preseason I say this and the pressure grows and grows until we lose the first game...

That certainly was cause for optimism, especially after seeing how we looked in Dallas.

Last year was the only one in recent memory that I didn't expect a shot at it. I'm also a positiger X 1000!
