The population of college football fans in Louisiana is divided among LSU, ULL, ULM, Tech, McNeese, Tulane, and occasionally out of state SEC teams.

Besides the NW portion of LA that roots for the Cowboys, which fanbase does the Saints have to share with?

They both have bandwagon fans so either fanbase calling each other out on the subject is dumb.

What does this have to do with popularity?

How many people like the saints in LA? How many people like LSU football in LA? A single person can like both. It's not a choice between the two.

True that.

I like both. The majority likes both. The northwest are full of cowboy/LSU fans. I'm pretty confident that LSU runs deeper in this state than the saints do. Theres no reason everyone cant support both though. Its two different sports, imo.

I love both, but if i had to choose it would be LSU. I just think the answer to the OP's question is the Saints.

Not for me. I cried at the NFCCG. THAT was the most emotional game for me. The super bowl I knew we had it. Getting there was more emotional than winning it for me. I'm probably in the minority on that but thats just how i feel..... yeah.

Living in NO at the time, it was amazing. I have a CSB about that day/night, but won't waste it on this thread.

I can't believe you actually asked that question. Are you high???

LSU would be more popular.

True. Though there is a huge cultural difference between the two. I would guess you are under the age of 22?

LSU football is ingrained in the history of the State and a great source of pride for residents all over. The Saints, not so much. It would take decades to cause any kind of meaningful shift.

There are reasons some pro teams adopted the state name instead of the city, for wider association. For those not living in N.O. ...not nearly as many identify with the Saints as they do LSU.

it may have to do more with every game in college football being a must win, when LSU loses i avoid all media and really get disappointed or pissed. When the Saints lose it sucks but it really doesnt bother me, may also have to do with me used to seeing them lose as a kid.

The further that you drive from Baton Rouge the fewer LSU shirts and stickers you'll see.

Like most, I love both but if you had to make a choice, which would it be?

Geaux..

You are as bad as my teenage son who has posed this question to me every season! His latest version was, "If you had to choose, who would you want to win a championship more?"
I never give him a straight answer, just like when I say, "I love all of my kids equally."

LSU, especially North Louisiana. LSU clothing, stickers everywhere, but not nearly as much Saints things. Until the Super Bowl run, there was even less.

Born and raised in Louisiana, an LSU fan all my life, but never cared for the Saints.

I personally am a bigger LSU fan, but LSU is not the correct answer to this question.
