Maybe Brian Kelly should get his teams ready to play during the long offseason instead of continually shitting the bed in 1st games and having to figure out his team on the fly and losing games during the season. Maybe then he could be more likeable.

it is probably directly proportionate to his ability to win

I would love to know how many people on this board “liked” Brian Kelly when he was at Notre Dame. I would bet a lot of y’all would have said he is overrated. It seems like any coach that isn’t Kirby Smart or Brian Kelly is overrated.

I don't know all of the ins and outs of that situation. Do you think that if he was ultimately responsible that he would have been charged with involuntary manslaughter? Tell me all of the facets of the case, instead of just repeating the trope.

ESPN Article

From someone who works in the contracting industry, I can tell you it was the student’s direct supervisor who was most at fault. They have to know OSHA rules and regulations and abide by them. They didn’t and they are the ones directly at fault.

If you read the ESPN article, it is clear that there were SEVERAL people involved in sending videographers up on lifts (there wasn’t just one- there were multiple people on lifts around the field. Only one fell over) in wind they weren’t rated for that weren’t a part of the on-field coaching staff. Kelly made the call to practice outside, but people keep saying that he directly sent people up on lifts and that just isn’t the case. They had support staff who they reported to and those people made that call. The guy is quoted in the article as having known the wind gust projections were over the lift ratings of 28 MPH and asking the videographers to not go more than halfway up.

The buck stops with the head coach at any program, but the trope that Kelly sent this kid up in a lift personally has absolutely no basis in fact. It’s lazy bullshite thrown around by trolls.

It's interesting that none of these trolls ever blame the AD or president of the university.

It's a similar narrative to muh LSU robs children's hospitals to pay players.

Beg to differ.

LSU: Kelly's record at LSU is 26–11 after three seasons. His first season included an SEC West title and a win over Alabama. His second season featured a Heisman Trophy winner and 10 victories.

Notre Dame: Kelly's record at Notre Dame was 113–40. He was the first Irish coach to have six seasons of double-digit wins in a seven-year stretch.
Cincinnati: Kelly's record at Cincinnati was 34–6.
Central Michigan: Kelly's first team at Central Michigan went 4–7 in 2004.
Grand Valley State University: Kelly's record at Grand Valley State University was 118–35–2. He was named Division II National Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2003.
Assumption: Kelly was inducted into the Assumption Athletics Hall of Fame in 2006.
Bowl record: Kelly's bowl record is 9–6.
Awards: Kelly has won the Dodd Trophy, the AP Coach of the Year award twice, the Bryant Coach of the Year award, the ACC Coach of the Year award, and the Big East Coach of the Year award three times.

Kelly came to LSU before the portal and NIL blew up. Give him a bit more time and we shall see. Hope you pull for LSU and him to be successful

The fact that everyone on this board hated him and thought he was a douche when he coached Notre Dame.

He’s actually more likable now then he ever was at ND. The problem is he has no identity anymore. He doesn’t really go nuts on the sideline etc. He just stands on the sidelines with that confused look.

I didn't, just didn't watch Notre Dame enough to have an opinion one way or another so I was fairly neutral.
