yeah, it is like a hot roll at the dice table, anything can happen. these are young guys, the game has a lot of breaks, I don't get the lack of optimism either.

Where is the optimism in our team
I keep hearing we dont have a proven this or a proven that.

Considering LSU has more hype from key positions than production I will wait till season to anoint this team SEC Champs.

Florida lost to Ole Miss last year. That in itself shows that Florida is not the unstoppable force they are believed to be. We are packed with talent. You are correct. Thank you for your optimism. It is refreshing to hear someone say we can do it. I work with a hardcore tiger fan like myself who rarely says anything good about our program. I think that we all like to talk about the program (which is why we are on here) and a loss or bad news leaves more to converse about.
I love LSU to a borderline creepy level and I love a good win. But "Man did you see that pass?" isn't good post material. Again thank you. Really

I usually get over a loss Monday.

thanks for the open minded, cool replys, everyone. i expected a lil more bashing --i really meant it for what it is. we dont have to wear purple and gold glasses---- or be pessimistic either. But i tell you what, if i had to choose id rather expect to win and get let down with my p and g glasses on than expect to lose and be surprised. We have good reason to expect to win. More reason than we expect to lose. Yet theres alot of focus on why we will lose. I bet the lsu players expect to win. Its not like we are supporting va. commonwealths football team. we are 2 times champs--lets act like it--wear purple and gold glasses or hey....dont wear them and be realistic if you want in your own opinion of what that is, but lets cut the "extremity" of pessimism. Lets act like champion fans to our champion caliber team.
This wasnt to everyone whos a fan. I just see it more than it should be around here

quote:I hope this is the only reason, but I fear it is not. There really does seem to be a strong sentiment among many on this board that it is somehow "cooler" not to show support or optimism because optimism makes you a "homer" (as if that's a bad thing?). There are a lot of people on this board that love to mock optimistic views an "unrealistic," while espousing their own equally unrealistic negative views and calling them "objectivity." What they seem to miss is that if you make a fan (or "homer") pick and are wrong, then you are simply a fan hoping for the best for their team. But if you make such a huge deal out of "not wearing P&G glasses" or "not drinking the Kool-ade" or "not being a homer," and just make "rational" and "objective" picks, then when you are wrong it can only be because you are ignorant and do not know anything about football. I mean, seriously; if you're going to be wrong, isn't it a lot more credible to be wrong because you were hoping for the best for your team than to be wrong because you simply don't know enough about football to figure out that LSU could beat Florida?
its almost like our fans are so passionate, they are scared to hope for what they want for fear of it not coming true, so they pick it apart as some weird type of security in case the bad does happen?

I got me some purple and gold glasses and I love the koolaid. But we had a tough year last year, new coaches this year and a tough schedule. I hope I'm wrong. And I sure as hell hope we beat the damn gaytors. I'm sick of hearin' about them down here in gaytorland.

At the end of the day it's 11 humans against 11 humans. Sky is the limit for LSU this year.

and why the frick do we have to wait till the end of the season and then look back and compare and contrast with stats and bla bla bla bla bla. Have some passion. think of now. Its a possibility. go with it. you freakin robots!! most of you. freakin a---stop worrying about whats technically right and show some cajun freakin misguided passion you freakin slugs.
Half of you fans just plain out suck. i would never wanna party with the majority of you. you know pessimism doesnt make you smarter. It just makes you pessimistic. Try and balance it out. ive never been more proud of and ashamed of some of our fans. Good god are you so scared of losing that you cant expect greatness?? Id rather be smart and passionate and possibly get disapointed than be smart and anal and be anyone else---i don the p ang g glasses b4 i over critcize my team i dont need to feel that just in case they fail i could say i was right. Big problem ive seen here

I'm still here, El Guapo!
I think JJ will be distinct advantage at his position over every team on our schedule except FU and Ole Miss.
I think Chavis is rejuvenated and has some real studs to work with.
I think RS will make some plays THIS YEAR.
I think our OL is very good and they have Chuck Scott running downhill behind them.
I think LSU's coaching changes were net gains in every possible position and angle you look at it.
I think this team - and I mean players, coaches, and down to the guys who tape ankles - is very hungry and pissed off. you cannot downplay that when you combine it with talent at the college level. Emotion goes a long way in this game.
I'm ready.
