This is a profound statement.

If you base it on winning percentage of active SEC coaches, I believe Miles is the highest. It gets tough measuring apples to apples with other conferences.

If you believe the SEC is the toughest, then there you have it. Like it or not, Miles would be #1 in the country.

If he wins another crystal, he goes into the top 5.

Top 10.
But I wouldn't have anyone else. He is arguably the most honorable coach in the game and easily the most entertaining.

Depends. How many college coaches are there?

Just kidding, just kidding.

I would say top fifteen based solely on recruiting.

It's impossible to judge how good all the hot up-and-comer coaches are, but among current CFB coaches who have 5+ years coaching experience at major programs, you're basically comparing him to...

Nick Saban
Bobby Petrino
Steve Spurrier
Jim Tressel
Mack Brown
Bob Stoops
Frank Beamer
Gary Patterson

I think you could put Miles in the Top 5 out of that group.

And more than that, it is actually possible that Les Miles is THE best long-term fit for LSU in particular. Something about the thought of trying to imagine a Tressel or Brown or Beamer keeping LSU around the top of the SEC for decades doesn't feel very real to me, for different reasons. I think Bob Stoops might be the only coach listed who would fit that mold of a guy who could stay on top in Baton Rouge for a long time, and as we all know, he blows his chances in BCS games.

It happens. That is just stupid. The most overrated coach of all time and everybodys idol... Nick Saban lost to ULM didn't he?

Les is a top coach and is locked in for the next seven years. He will have two or more BCSC's over the next seven years and will continue to earn his coins.

If he gets one more national championship in the next 7 years, that would probably put lsu in the top spot of programs - at least tied with another school. No one will win 3 in the next 7 years. Probably no one will win 2 but is possible - just not all that likely. College football starts changing next season with Pac 12 and Big 10(12) expansion and championship games.

I think LSU winning 2 in the next 7 is a tall order...more than that is a pipe dream. One is realistic. But the goal is 7...right?

IMO this is way off base.. the parity is off the charts in the SEC... even though a team (I.E. Kentucky) may lose 6 or 7 games.. the talent is still very comparable to the top teams. Vandy is the only team that really doesn't have the talent needed to compete (in football)

right now I'm not sure I'd take any active coach over Les. Not Saban, not Brown, not Stoops, definetly not JoePa...

Since I wouldn't trade him at the moment, I guess I'd have to rank him #1
