I had us 8-4 preseason and 7-5 after FSU, FSU didn’t really change my thoughts other than adding the one loss (because I thought we would beat them before the game started). My confidence came from the in game adjustments and our endurance/stamina to play all four quarters.
However, I did not see this coming, and anyone who did is a liar. Coaches don’t make programs turn around this quickly when you consider the culture problems we had.

6-6 but honestly didn’t see more than 3 sure wins.

For me, it was more a function of the perceptions of the rest of the West. Arky, A&M, Ole Miss and Miss. State all looked pretty legit coming into the season. I don't think any of us saw A&M being quite the dumpster fire they have become. Ole Miss is still looking legit. Arky and Miss. State are sort of in the same boat to me. Better than average, perhaps, but nowhere near as strong as it appeared they would be. As to the East opponents, I thought Tennessee would be good, and I had no earthly idea what to expect from the Gay-Turds.
Also, I was not panicked or worried at all about the FSU loss per se. As a matter of fact, I took solace in the fact that they showed the resiliency in that game to put themselves in a position to win when all seemed lost. I just thought we were maybe a year away from being able to compete against very good to elite teams.

We are where I thought we would be except we are a year AHEAD of schedule! I wasn't really a Brian Kelly fan when he got hired, but I see him poised to lead us to several championships.

I didn't expect any wins vs ranked teams. I felt without Emory they had no run game.
the tennessee massacre: I gave up on the season.
I expected bama to cover the 13.5.
I told my housemate I just hoped they weren't totally embarrassed vs bama.
I don't see any future sec game as a gimme.
i hope the weather is good for arkansas.
I hope Emory is healthy.

My preseason projection was expecting at least 7-5, likely 8-4, 9-3 plausible but hopeful. After FSU and seeing the start the rest of SEC got out to, I was praying for 7-5 but 6-6 started creeping in.
