Where are our offensive line recruits from years past?

Marcus Dumervil, Hill, Martinez, Kardell Thomas, Bradford, Ray Parker. Does the coaching staff suck that much at player development or did we just missed on these guys? What says tRant?

Thomas is the biggest "wtf" out of the listed names

Sure Ray Parker shouldn’t be at or near the top?

Ray was a 4 star coming out. Look it up.

Perry was a 3 star but still my point is where is the development? Dumervil and Thomas are huge head scratchers

Didn’t ray get kicked off the team after the domestic abuse thing snd kicking a puppy

Attrition brought on by poor culture, poor player evaluation, poor player development, and poor coaching.

After being accused of domestic abuse last fall, former LSU football player Ray Parker now faces an additional accusation: Police say his abusive behavior extended to a puppy named Kash, whose leg was broken and later amputated after Parker repeatedly kicked the dog.
LSU police issued an arrest warrant in September accusing Parker, 21, of aggravated cruelty to animals. That was not long after Parker was arrested on the domestic violence counts, then released on bond. He was again taken into custody this week after law enforcement located him in his hometown of Ruston and booked him into jail there, officials said.

Recruiting services tried to tell us about Kardell but we didn’t want to listen.

Marcus Dumervil, Hill, Martinez
These guys are all basically RS freshmen (or they would be if last year counted). Also Hill and Martinez were both 3-star recruits. Dumervil is the only one that anyone could have realistically expected to make an impact in year 2, but even that’s a bit of a stretch on OL. I’m not ready to write him off just because he’s not starting in his second year. There’s still time for him to live up to his billing.

Kardell Thomas, Bradford
Should both be ready to contribute by now. Bradford is injured, right? Kardell Thomas is puzzling. I know he’s been fighting injuries himself over the past 2 years but that doesn’t change the fact that as of right now, he isn’t nearly living up to his rating out of high school.

Ray Parker
Ugh. Stories like his are the most frustrating IMO. Could have been a key contributor and turned out to be a POS. Although I think he got moved to DE before he was dismissed?

The oline issues geaux back to the LM years. Sign 4-5 oline recruits and half or more leave for whatever reason.
2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2020 were the worst. We are now seeing the failure of the LSU coaches recruiting, evaluating and development.

There's several things to dissect or unpack here. I'll put them in groups for my own sake:
- Martinez shouldn't be on your list. He started last week and did very well, albeit against weak competition. However, he looked strong as was doing everything right, and moving quite well. 1/2 of Dellinger is in this group; he hasn't had time to develop and that's not his or the coaches fault.
- Hill and Dumervil: the story has yet to be finished. As for your bar to reach- yes, they are on your bubble (as defined). They need to be producing. Dumervil is hard to put on this list, or the next one... maybe even with Martinez because of his injury. Just hard to be definitive just yet; soon... but not yet. 1/2 of Dellinger is in this group; he hasn't had time to develop and that's not his or the coaches fault.
- Bradford. Yep, let's include him on your list. His S&C (weight/agility) is the issue there. So that is a form, a primary one, of lack of development. He's serviceable. By that I mean he could be so much more... but he ain't. He could be pushing to be starting, maybe even at OT by the way... but he ain't. Necessarily including Kardell's injury- he's on this list. He's had enough time; he is also (as poster above stated) a mis-evaluation. Neither of these guys are meeting expectations.
- Parker should have never been recruited as an OL. I liked him as a project because he had a mean streak- unfortunately it was towards women and puppies. But as an OL, leaving that stuff aside, when I saw him in the AAA game (I think it was that game) I changed my mind. He was terrible. Hell, he wanted to be a TE because he knew he couldn't get his body right as a project. Why in the hell did we think he could when he didn't think so himself is beyond me. This qualifies as "stupid", on several levels.

Cregg sucked at getting top OL prospects here

2019 was a dud for the most part with only 1 contributor in Turner.
2020 is TBD
2021 has some studs but also TBD
2022 has a lot of studs but we have to hold onto them.

BTW, Jeff Grimes sucked just as bad as Cregg.
Davis will not be an improvement either.
The new HC has got to put a premium on OL Recruiting and Coaching.
