They'll be some that discount the three Championships because the title games were "home games" for LSU

Hold your beans there rocket. We haven't even won a single game in 2011 yet.

ETA: except the Cotton Bowl.

Yall should probably try to string together an undefeated season or two before you start talking greatest program in the country.

This is the correct answer right here. Actually I don't give 2 fricks now what the media's perception of us is.

Florida won 3 in 12 years between 96 and 08 along with multiple other SEC championships and an undefeated reg season in 09. Not to mention what USC, Ohio State, and Oklahoma have accomplished, eve if they can't match the number of national championships. Even if we win another next year, it would be close as to who was the "top program", which I'm not surely you can ever really figure out. As others have stated, it is better to lump teams together and we would be in the top tier, if we aren't already.

First off there is no way you will get 2011 AND 2012 BCS MNC victories with Les 'the hat' Miles as coach.

Secondly, I love how one of the LSU posters already has 2011 and 2012 in their signatures.

I have always thought that the LSU fan base has to be the most like the bamer fanbase than any other one in college football and this just validates that train of thought.

And if he loses 1 game y'all will be calling for miles' head.

I wouldn't get people's hopes up. Next thing you know we'll be having a screaming hoard of people demanding Les's head on a platter if it doesn't come true. And we already have people that hate him after a 11 - 2 season.

I think we will win it next year no doubt. But I don't like to look too far ahead in the future. If we win it all in 2011, the off-season will be fun to watch depending on who leaves and who stays out of that junior class.

I think your geography was a bit off.

I'd say that the media's interest in ND is its national appeal to Catholics throughout the US, and the interest in Big Ten is the mid-west (particularly Chicago) market;

You were right about SC's appeal to the LA market.

if we win next season, they will just way that we can only win in the Superdome and if we had to go anywhere else, the opposing team would beat us....

How can we ever knock off Notre Dame? They have their own TV network.

correct you are, they won 3 between 1950 and 56,
55 and 56 back to back. All under the same coach,
Bud Wilkerson, do not think any one has done that.

this is about discussing who the CURRENT/2011 top program would be if we won it all in the 2011 season.

Not a discussion of history or all-time success...that is for another thread

we are talking BCS era here...
