Hatch 3 years ago? Wasn't he going to be the starter, but he got that head injury?

Given his efficiency numbers from last year, I think its fairly easy to say we will not be.

I feel more comfortable with JJ9 as the #2 QB.

Also, newsflash, Lee won us several games last year, and would likely have been as good as he has been this year
Lee showed flashes of brilliance last year and even in 2008...but I don't recall him having as many solid games from start to finish as he has had this season.

There is no reason to platoon QB's or even bring in Jefferson in certain situations in which we could use his running abilities. I believe Jefferson should only see the field if Lee gets injured or we are blowing out an opponent, AND it is determined that he is a better option than Mettenburger.

While this is clear to you and anyone else with a rational mind, this does not appear to be the case for Les Miles. Trust me, if Les Miles said what you are saying, there would be a thousand less posts on the Rant.

As immobile as Lee is, I'd be surprised if he makes it through without getting banged up against Florida and Muschamp's blitz packages. Anybody who doesn't welcome JJ back is putting their own selfish self-interest before not only what's right, but before the success of the 2011 LSU football team.

meh...you have Ware/Ford (and maybe Shepard) to run the ball, and Lee can be effective rolling out the pocket.

You can't say that we would be more effective with Jefferson in the game in those situations.

THANK YOU.

there are running situations where JJ would be the better QB. For the vast majority of the plays JL should be in but there are definitely times Les is gonna play JJ and I am excited about it Les has had the chance to work with them both every day for 4 years and before the season he thought that Jefferswag was the better QB and I am going to have to agree with him because it seems like he can do no wrong lately.

I'd much rather playaction throw to a reciever or run a true running play to our 4+ ypc running backs than have a mediocre runner running out of a pass formation that is blocking for a pass. Short yardage is the only reason to try and run this way and it's a much better percentage to do an actual run than to do some BS QB draw or call a pass play that breaks down and you hope he runs far enough to move the chains. We tried this crap repeatedly last year and this is one of the reasons we had so many 3 and outs.

Edit: Our play calling was much better last year because the OC didn't call this kind of BS play with JL in there. See Florida and Tenn games.

95th in the country last year at converting 3rd downs (33.9%)

23rd in the country this season (46.4%)

You can never have enough good QB's. There will be a time when we will need each one of them, period.

I think people get tripped up a bit when they compare JJ's athleticism to. JL's athleticism. The truth is, JJ takes plays away from the other skill players when they call designed run Athletically, JJ>>>>>JL, but every other skill player is more of a threat than JJ.

Aa the. 3rd down efficiency stats above reveal, JL is doing just fine getting the ball to our playmakers.

Well, to be honest, we never got to actually see that last year. Ergo, questioning of Miles' judgement

JJ didn't get hurt last year, did he? I know he got banged up here and there, but nothing significant.

OBU, you may be right...although Lee replaced him so much, I don't recall if it was ever for an injury.

Prob because Crowton was trying to save his job and do anything he can which just made things worse. maryland put a whopping 7 points up on temple. And crowtons first season is supposed to be his best, he wont last long there either.

I thought a couple of times Lee came in was cus JJ was banged up. Not sure though. Either way even if you need JJ for a few plays cus of injury its better to have him than to not.

I know mett has potential, but JJ has played and beaten alabama, i would put him in that game in a heart beat if needed.

How many times did we call QB keepers? We usually run options with him and the skill position guys will still get the ball if they have the holes. Also, some folks are concerned that Ware and Ford are taking too many hits with still 7 SEC games to go. And we run 65-70 plays a game typically, right? Is a few carries for JJ really enough to cry about? Besides, JJ did have the longest run of the season last year.

That said, I'd be perfectly fine if JLee takes every snap for the rest of the year. If the coaches deem that best for the team. I also wouldn't mind JJ getting a few snaps a game for the same reason. The only think I would mind is for JJ to take over as the starter without JLee getting injured, but I think there is zero chance of that actually happening.
